Ok, yesterday at work was the last straw. I threw up and passed out in the loo and then went home.
The pain started on Saturday and is still with me today, I flood through a tampon and a towel within an hour or two for the first two days so sleep is out of the question. This is my life every 25 days and I am sick of it. I have gritted my teeth through weddings, Christmas Days, family day's out. I have cancelled friends, missed work and lost days while on holiday and cut short a holiday.

I throw up most painkillers while I am on, for some reason I also get D&V throughout it.

I have booked an appointment at the GP's for Friday. I am 43.

What shall I ask or what shall I ask for?

Have you tried the pill? Have you considered a mirena? I used to get terrible period pain & symptoms similar to yours I now have a mirena (pill doesn't suit me) and have no periods at all - it is life changing!!! It doesn't suit everyone but there is help out there. Smile

I had this and thankfully the pill worked for me.

A friend didn't get on with the pill but depo injection worked for her.

Hope you find a solution, it's horrible.

A guy at work has just 'joked' about me 'pulling a sickie'. He is currently on fire with a spear lodged in his chest.

The pill has never suited me and I shall ask about the coil.

Thanks for replying.

Yes the coil may help.
Naproxen has saved me - along with super plus and night time always!
Rotate with codeine.

I have this. Only the pill worked for me. You should ask for some investigation though. It can be caused by 3 different things.

Fibroids
An excess of stomach acid
An excess of the hormone 'proglastin' (sp)

I believe the treatment for each is different. Mine is the last option so only the pill controls the level of the hormone. That hormone is causing my stomach and bowels to contract as well as my uterus. I suffered for 3 years in my early teens Sad. It came back as soon as I came off the pill to TTC.

It is my fervent hope that it does return after I give birth.

I've had this since I was about 12 till I had a baby 10 months ago, the pain each month was worse than labour.

I wanted to say what tablets have you been given? Tranexamic acid with methanemic acid was good together!

stargirl1701 · 31/07/2012 21:11

doesn't return

Sorry

A combination of adenomyosis and endometriosis* caused a similar reaction for me. It's pretty grim and you have my sympathy. Buscopan is a muscle relaxant (also used for IBS) which can give relief. Hot patches that you can stick on helped a bit but aren't much good in warm weather.
*both benign conditions.

Suggest you go to GP and ask for investigation.

Oops sorry I see you have an appointment; I'd ask for a gynae referral.
