Why does this happen when I ovulate

mogandme · 28/07/2012 20:00

I have started noticing that I sometimes get the following issues when I ovulate.

  • "Javelin arse
  • I can get all hot/clammy with severe abdomen pains - this may lead to a collapse!

Should I be worried or is this ok?

I dread to think what javelin arse is but the severe abdominal pains do not sound normal. Common to get a few twinges, I think, but that's all.

I do have quite a lot of pain when ovulating - always on the same side, which is strange. I think it is fairly common, but worth a visit to the GP.

No idea what 'javelin arse' is!!

SilkStalkings · 28/07/2012 21:14

Tummy cramps during ovulation is known as mittelschmertz I believe (useless fact).

I always get bad pain in my side when ovulating. Javelin arse is a new one on me though !!

Severe pain at time of ovulating could indicate something isn't quite right.
I used to pass out with mine although only get javelin arse prior to period I would say speak to your doctor to get a rederal to a pelvic pain clinic.

I appericiate your javelin arse comment Grin

Pandsbear · 29/07/2012 09:18

Poor you I also appreciate javelin arse comment Grin as I have had this too - but mainly just before and during my period. I also collapsed with pain. Turned out I have endometriosis - doesn't mean you have this at all but I don't think it is normal to have this much pain around ovulation and you need to tell the Dr.

As someone who has had 2 ovarian cysts removed please go and see your GP and ask for a scan to check it out.
