Wisdom tooth infection

I'm on day 2 of a 7 day course of antibiotics. The pain right by the tooth/jaw seems to have spread. The nearby teeth are sore as is the whole side of my face/neck. Is this normal? I'm not overly worried, just a bit down about the whole thing. Toothache is suprisingly painful!

So glad I'm not alone! I had to have root canal on Wednesday and I'm in agony! Same as you for antibiotics because there was an infection behind a filling

I've been up all night trying to find the right blend of painkillers

Tooth ache is a twunt!

I have had this - soooo painful. The only way I got any relief at all was with nuromol tablets from chemist, not prescription but you have to buy them from a pharmacist. They were quite expensive but so worth it for a decent sleep. be brave if you have to have them out, unlike me who keeps cancelling the appointment

Nuromol is expensive but it's only a branded version of paracetamol (500mg) & ibruprofen (200mg) - which you can buy very cheaply generically
Only difference is name & expensive advertising.

I'm sorry you're in pain too, Chunky.

I can't take much more than I'm already on. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I'm on the max dose of an anti-inflam as well as taking co-codamol (30/500mg). I'm alternating co-codamol with paracetamol and getting some relief without the drowsiness of all that codeine. I might have to admit defeat today though, my joints have flared up and paracetamol doesn't do much to help.

How can one bloody tooth hurt so much?!

Oh crashdoll that's miserable. I find that when I'm run down with something else my RA flares too. I'm lucky Hmm that I've been on and off codeine for so many years now it no longer makes me tired or spaces me out, it's also less effective though Sad
Have you tried a warm or cold compress on the side of your face that's suffering - I find that this gives me some temporary relief.
I'm currently battling with an extremely painful hip which they don't think is my RA but is driving me do-lally - I ended up in tears last night as I could do nothing for the pain and couldn't get comfortable in any way Sad.

crashdoll · 22/07/2012 18:05

Yes, I always flare up when run down too. It's typical, eh? The codeine just sends me into a daze, not quite tiredness of spaced outness just general "I want to lie down and be by myself" sort of feelings.

I'm sorry you've got hip pain. It's horrible because it affects the whole side of your body. RA is worst in my feet/ankles and bad walking has led to OA in knees and now I'm feeling the strain in my hips. So, I can empathise.

I've currently got cold compress on my face, it's helping a bit. Thanks for the advice. I'm going for another warm bath in a bit to relax my whole body which just aches. I've got to stab myself with methotrexate tonight too, so not sure tomorrow is going to be a great day either. I think I require chocolate!

Don't you know Chocolate is essential in the treatment of RA!Grin
I'm currently immobilised on the sofa where DH dumped me after rescuing me from the stairs where my hip just seised and won't move with out scream out loud pain. I'm about to be treated to a bedtime story by my 4yo , lucky me Grin
