A boring one - how do you store/carry your medication?

i have to take a couple of meds 4 and 3 x a day, and find that sometimes I am at home, sometimes I am in bed, sometimes I am out at work etc. I don't want to have packets of medicine just there in my bag, and also in cabinet by the bed, would ideally like them more organised as I keep moving them and forgetting where I have put them (not lying around the house, but either in medicine cabinet downstairs or the new one upstairs, or my bag).

I find I go to take them and one set is in my bag from earlier and vice versa. I need to just go 'medicine' and there it is to hand.

While also ensuring they are not accessible to the children, they are strong drugs.

What do you use to organise your meds and have them to hand easily? I need to get on top of it as this is going to be for the long haul and don't want medication taking to dominate my hours.

I have a lockable medicine cabinet in my kitchen, which is too high for young children to reach. My meds are always in there, but I only need them twice a day, so rarely take them when out. If I do, I transfer what I need into a pill box, and put in my bag, but the main stash stays in the cabinet.

I find it helpful to split medication that I have to take several times a day in two. Most of the medications I use are prescribed in 2 packs so this is easy - one up one down. Both locations are secure from little hands. For out and about I have a little key ring pill holder for my handbag that is tricky to unscrew but this may not be secure enough for children with good dexterity (ds has SN some of the meds are his) and a locked drawer in the car containing emergency supplies.

oh i have seen those key ring pill holders, quite interesting! DD would be able to open them, and to be honest I would be more concerned about her taking one aged 6 than ds aged 2.5. He would spit it out as soon as it touched his lip as he would dislike the taste and would not know to swallow it. But DD, while I trust that she knows not to, has a sense of curiosity that means if she opened the keyring holder she might 'try' one like mummy does.

I have several packets of each actually, so that is a good idea. one set up, one set down, one set in the car. I now need to get some small locked boxes as I don't want big medicine cabinets everywhere!

oh and I can't put it high up out of their reach, so must be lockable. my problem is back related so I can't stretch. Our medicine box used to be a big wicker basket on a high out of the way shelf not even accessible by the kids getting on a chair. that has had to go as I cant reach it either!

Would lockable cash boxes or a little bedroom safe do the trick? Perhaps a storage stool with a lock? (I keep my nebuliser in the bedroom stool next to the bed so it is handy) I did see some lockable pill containers on a US site but have not been able to find it. Sorry.

Found another one a US site called Locmed (sorry could not get the link right) with various sized little bags or boxes to carry holiday tablets in.

yes i have been looking at the metal cash boxes actually. also some wooden jewelry boxes/trinket boxes with locks on, for the one in my bedroom, then it will look pretty too not just a medical cabinet. will take a look at a stool with a lockable bit, like the idea of that!
