Benefits of different types of milk

Considering DH & I don't drink milk (not a choice as such, just don't really like it and don't like tea/coffee!) I wondered which milk has the most benefits for kids?

DS is 3.5 and drinks a fair amount - on its own and cereal, porridge etc.

I've heard stuff about chemicals in cow's milk, and hormones. But does soy/almond milk provide the same vitamins and calcium?

Is there any benefit of one over another?

Organic cows milk has more EFA's and certain vitamins and will not have growth hormones or antibiotics. Dairy alternatives are often fortified with calcium. There are quite a few - 'kara', which is coconut milk, Ecomil drinks include Quinoa and oat milk. Soya is quite a common allergen and difficult to digest.

Soya is not recommended for under 2s I believe. There are also issues with it because of the plant oestrogens in it (hence it not being suitable for very small children, and best avoided for boys I believe)

If you're worried about the nasties in dairy milk, why not buy organic milk?

Oat milk might be okay.

Thanks for you replies - I do buy organic milk but just wondered whether an alternative would be better for DS seeing as we don't use it ourselves anyway and he eats/drinks anything!

Sounds like it's better than the others perhaps anyway though, stick with what you know....
