Hi I have posted before and as you are all so informative I wanted some more advice if possible.

I was diagnosed about three months ago, started on 50mg but had my bloods taken last week and Dr discovered my levels had gone up so he increased my dose of Thyroxine to 75mg. So I have been taking this new dose for a week but feel v ill and exhausted again plus the top of my spine near the left side of my neck is very swollen and painful. I have also been experiencing balance problems, every so often I feel like the ground is moving and shifting. V weird...

Can you help? Is this a symptom of Thyoid disease? Im a little worried and will make an appointment to see Dr on Monday!

Thanks!

Hello there! I was diagnosed in nov and feel awesome again now but it did take a while. You will get there!

Now then - so you started on 50 and stayed on that for 3 months before having a blood test? They can check levels after 6 weeks so don't be fobbed off with so long between increases/tests next time. At the beginning it is better to keep on increasing (after checking bloods!) Sooner rather than later. Some GPs just go straight to 100 or 150 and skip the slow increases in meds - just so you know you are getting a bit of a slow increase in meds there!

Did you get all your vitamins tested? This would include vit d, ferritin, folates, b12. If not, it is vital to do so, then check the results yourself to see if you need anything supplementing. Until all vits are well in range you will still feel like crap, which would be sad.

What are your levels now and what were they before?

There's loads of support on thyroid uk as well and I'd recommend a book from the library called 'underdtanding your thyroid' by anthony toft. He's a consultant in nhs so it's a good book to take to GPs with you
