Pain in breast

I have been having pain in my right breast for some months now. I origianally put it down to fininshing breast feeding after 2 years and then decided that it was probably muscle pains from carrying a chubby 2 year old around.

I then began to panic and wonder if it was something sinister going on so saw a GP a month ago. He examined me and said that he couldn't find anything unusal but to come back in a months time if no better.

It still come and goes all the time. Today is a bad day but then yesterday I went for a long walk with the pushchair so I guess this could have made it worse.

Went back and saw a female GP today who is the surgerys expert on womens health for a second opion. She said that pain is not usually connected with BC and that at my age (36) it would unusal to have anything wrong. She examined me again and said that she could feel just normal thickening but nothing to worry about. She suggested trying evening primrose but said that I would just have to get used to the discomfort.

I am trying not to google but I thought thickening of the breast was a concern. She said that she could feel the same both sides just a llttle more under my right arm and said that she had her theory that it was down to muscle build up. Should I push for anything further to be done or just try and relax?

I would try and relax (and I speak as an occasional hypochondriac Wink).

I have had pains in breasts, usually on one side, on and off for years - hormonal changes, costochondriasis (inflammation of cartilage joints in ribs), bad posture, you name it. Its never been anything sinister (and yes, I did get checked!).

I think stopping breast feeding will make for breast tissue changes for quite some time - months and months - and thickening is very common as we get older. That said, if it will help your peace of mind, you can ask for a referral to a breast surgeon/clinic - peace of mind is precious, especially with 2 year olds around Smile

Thanks Elibean. Can I ask if you had ultrascans done or just visited GP.
