Have you found a link between your outbreaks and your monthly cycle? I used to take the pill continually (i.e. no breaks after three weeks worth of pills and no monthly bleed) and this seemed to keep the herpes in check. I did this for many years but a few years ago decided I didn't want to be taking the pill anymore and although I feel better for it, the herpes has returned, monthly, just before my period is due and it's hideous.
So, naturally, I'm thinking about going back on the pill but I just wondered if anyone else has seen his pattern and been able to control it by some other method other than the contraceptive pill.

TIA

isn't Lysine just Lysine wherever you get it from Dollydowser? I didn't realise different makes of it could differ in quality.

So far today i have had porridge with raspberries and i have made a brown rice and tuna salad with cucumber for lunch with a Waitrose Garden vegetable salad on the side so I can tick the healthy eating box so far huh? New vits and creams ordered. They can't make things any worse than they are now so well worth trying. Thanks for all you posts everybody.

All supplements are different, and sometimes it can be down to what else is in the tablet, what it is made from and how easily absorbed they are.

Definitely ticking the healthy eating box, hope you are soon feeling much better.

I suffered really badly through my childhood with coldsores, usually due to a lot of sun and swimming (lived abroad).

As an adult they come when I am due on, stressed or under the weather. Last year I had a very bad outbreak all over my mouth when I got strep throat and tonsillitis. GP prescribed acyclovir, and it cleared them up quickly. And amazingly not had cold sore since!

I know you're are not facila, but could be worth asking your GP for this.

thanks tawny.
Lego - sorry to hear that. I have tried acyclovir before with some success. I'm just trying to see if I can get it under control with more natural vitamins first before I go back on the drugs.
