head/room spinning and feeling sick

Since about 6 this morning my head feels like it is on a fair ground ride, if I dont move it I only feel sick, like car sick, but if I move my head my eyes start to spin and it feels like my head is rolling round and round.
I saw the nurse to get my stitches out today and said if it was still like this at the end of the week to go see them, but I hate this feeling.
I daren't move even just my head.
If I'm standing up I feel like I'm going to faint.
I dont know if my chest infection is anything to do with it.

Sounds like labyrithitits (I'm not sure how to spell it), it's inflammation of middle ear which controls balance. Sounds horrid Sad Maybe a good idea to see your GP.

My mum had labrinthitis. The dizzy sick room spinning feeling is exactly how she felt. Ring your GP or out of hours by now and they should prescribe you some anti-sickness medication. The dizziness can take some time to go.

If you have a chest infection it could be related to that. Do you have a raised temp? You don't say which stitches you were having out? You symptoms do sound like labyrnthitis. My bro had it last year and described it as feeling as if he was inside a spin-dryer. Felt dreadfully sick and weird. It came on incredibly quickly - one minute he was fine and the next his head was just swimming and he felt terribly sick. It took a few weeks for him to get over and for the first week he just had to lie very still in bed. I hope you managed to get some OOH advice.

could be vertigo....if it is there is a tablet you can get to get rid of the drunk feeling. DH had it once - he had an inner ear infection that he knew nothing of until he got the vertigo - scared me to death as i found him crawling around on the bathroom floor. he couldnt stand up.

I had a really bad attack of vertigo/labyrinthitis once, out of the blue - while I was driving, which was very scary

for about an hour after getting home I couldn't even move my head, but then lay down, & threw up, & after sleeping for a while was more or less ok.

afterwards I had occasional mild attacks, but I was pointed towards \link{https://shop.stockwellpharmacy.co.uk/Heel-vertigoheel-tablets-50\vertigoheel tablets} - taking a few at the start of each attack seemed to fend it off & touch wood I've had nothing for months

I believe you can take medication for seasickness too - whatever is easiest to get hold of quickly

Thank you, am just back from Gp unit they are saying they think its vertigo although everything looked normal to them test wise, he said i looked like i had been in the wars.
He gave me an injection and Buccastem tablets to take for a few days, which he thinks will help.

I think what scared me most was the quickness it came on, i didn't sleep last night which isn't unusual, one minute i was fine the next it felt like i was on a fair ride.
I still feel sick and dizzy but less scared now i no what it is.

glad you got the tablets - same thing happened when DH got it - one moment he was fine, the next he disappeared and i found him on the bathroom floor - scared me silly! the tablets will take away the horrible drunk feeling quickly.

hope you are feeling better by now.

muddleup · 11/07/2012 08:56

Had to go back to Gp yesterday as felt worse and didn't feel like tablets were helping, they gave me other ones and after a good nights sleep i do feel better, although i don't want to tempt fate.

Ooh good luck. I had this a couple of weeks ago for the first time ever and it was horrid. GP said it tends to come after viral infections and often comes in epidemics in the spring and early summer, maybe this miserable weather has delayed this year's epidemic?

He said it might take up to 8 weeks to clear totally but I've been fine for most of the last week so it was much faster than that.

That's good to hear, i had am operation 2 weeks ago and then got an infection in my wound along with being allergic to the dressings, then end of last week i got a chest infection so i guess this shouldn't be unexpected.
Do feel much better today and have managed to get out of the house for a bit.
