HELP..watrey stools in a 9mth old.

I posted a thread at the start of the week about the fact that dd since sunday has been having very very watery stools. At first she was going the normal 3-4 times aday with the only difference being that it's like water. It means a change of clothing at each nappy change.

She has been off her food and only realy managed solid foods yesterday (1st time in a week). Dh & I can see top teeth coming through so we think this is the cause.

BUT I went to see my gp yesterday as I am concerned..Should they be like this for this amount of time..?? He made out like I was an OTT mother and said she looks healthy,is alert blah blah blah.
Didn't check her over and checked her temp with was normal. Sent me home none the wiser.

It's now 3.15am and we have been up since 2.30am with dd I am quite worried about the nappies but don't really know where to get advice...dd has totally "gone through" a nappy, babygrow, sleepsuit and dreampod..Sad.....surely dd shouldn't be like this...????

She didn't wake me, I woke her as I heard it..Sad Sad Sad.

Can anyone give me advice or peace of mind..? Should her nappies be so loose for this amount of time (going into day 5) because of teething.??????????????????????????

HELP!!!!

My dts a while back had exactly as you describe, and it lasted about 10 days, only they were not off their food.

I would take her back to the gp, as I would have thought it would'nt have happened during the period she did'nt eat, unles she is still drinking lots of milk.

Make sure she drinks plenty of fluids, how old is she, you can get sachets of dhyalite at the chemist, these replace lost salts and help to hydrate.

thanks wf. DD is 9 months. I thought that it would be expected when she would only have milk and juice ie like babies are when born etc. But she has had solids for 1st time in around a week yesterday and it's still the same....

Yesterday I changed 7 soiled nappies. I have just got up this morning to another one.

She is drinking loads and has been since she has been off her food, gp says nothing to worry about and suggested the diarolyte (?) to replace fluids. I haven't given her any as she is drinking milk no probs along with juice.

was yours due to teething..? thing is if I go back to gp it will be to the same one I saw yesterday Angry...

hi shhh, sounds horrible - poor you and dd. might it be worth ringing nhs direct? they ought to be able to let you knwo whether the extent of the problem and the length it has lasted is unusual. also it might put a bit of pressure on your gp to take things seriously.

don't let him make you feel bad - it is clearly an unusually unpleasant bout of something (even if it is just because your dd has a very bad reaction to teething - or maybe has a bit of a tummy upset at the same time as teething).

as i said on your other thread, ds (also nine months) does get this problem when teething, but your dd sounds as if she may have something slightly more severe/a combo of teething and something else.

good luck - hope your little girl is feeling better soon.

LUMMOX thanks. I spoke to nhs direct yesterday and it was them who suggested I see my gp.

This morning I have done 4 nappy changes since 8am. Sad. Thing now though is that dd's bum and flower are so so so so red..poor little thing. Sad.

Just spoke to my hv who suggested it may be a loctose intollerance which can happen at this age and can be a temporary thing. Suggested leaving it a few days and if no bettre asking gp to prescribe lactose intollerance milk. I don't know if I can wait that long. Can you buy this milk at tesco etc..? DD did have at around 3mths cow and gate omega comfort..is this the same?

Seems awful to leave dd like this for a few more days when she is obviously sore.

Sorry to say I don't know where you could get that formula. There is an allergies section on mumsnet - a quick search on "formula" just in allergies came up with quite a lot of stuff on lactose intolerance. Maybe worth a look?
