And I'm getting a bit worried it may mean I've no pelvic floor. Dc3 is 2 weeks old and I've been ok about doing Kegels, not fervent but ok. Physio booklet mentioned to try to stop pee mid stream, I can't even slow it down! Not sure I could have before this pregnancy either, or ever come to think of it. No continence issues to report, I'm just worried I'm missing something.
Feel free to share your pee stories Smile

I think it's common after giving birth, keep practising and doing your exercises.

Sorry to sound patronising, but are you sure you're using the right muscles?

If so, then I'd wait a couple of weeks and try again before worrying, it could just be that everything is still a bit out of sorts down there

Thanks - I think what's bothering me is I'm not sure I ever could stop the flow, disregard the birth part as I know that will take a while to recover. Hmmm, I always thought I was using the right muscles but will rethink. Does those replies mean it is normal to be able to stop pee?

It's normal to be able to stop peekng mid flow when your muscles are recovered and strong enough. Not 2 weeks after birth.

EugenesAxe · 08/07/2012 21:26

The first time I tried I thought I might have managed it... but then upon trying to start again I realised I'd just run out of piss.

I may be able to now but I don't practise much. Just not wetting myself when I'm desperate is an achievement.

EclecticShock · 08/07/2012 21:27

There are exercises you can do to improve it. There's even electronic devices... 3 kids can make your muscles weaker but toucan definately get them back, so don't worry too much.

I had a similar concern pp with my first. I was referred to a specialist physio after visiting my gp. Massive help regained control of both urine and faecal urgency. I suffered in silence for 6 months. However, after baby no. 2 I asked the mwife to refer me before 10 day discharge. My advice is talk to gp. Hope you see some improvement but it does take time.

My DS is 5, and I still have no pelvic floor, despite kegels occasionally every day. Not sure I want to bother the GP though. The last time I could stop weeing in mid flow was before I had DS Blush
