What medication were you on ? if you were using topical steroids (cream) then you may have a longterm problem-they are known to thin the skin

Yes what sort of medication? Im worried too as have eczema and have used steroid creams for years.

I think it also depends where you use them eg on the face is really not good but the legs where the skin is thicker is not too bad These days they mix the steroid with something else eg emolient so it is more diluted

Ive used steroids on my face. Had to as eczema was soooo bad. Saw consultant recently and he said i didnt have steroid damaged skin and he told me to use more steroid cream on my face. Needless to say im not following his advice.

I would only put it on my face for max 2 weeks and then only diluted What triggers your ezema?

The skin on the backs of my hands got very thin following bad eczmea and steriod creams. It has got thicker over time, was very fragile for quite a while but now four years on wold say it was back to normal.

Prednisone tablets. Skin is in a bad way but doctor not concerned at all.

Im currently on prednisolone 15mg per day for a week then 10mg for a week then 5mg for a week then stop. Im also using dermovate on my hands as the skin is very thickened due to years of scratching. I also have thickened patches on my face but am terrified of using the dermovate on my face as i've already used steroid creams on my face for years.

The consultant told me i had no sign of steroid damage to my skin including my face but i am still too scared to use the dermovate on my face. I never look in the mirror so i dont actually know for myself whether there are any signs of steroid damage on my face.

I can just tell that my skin is much better at the moment due to the predisolone because it feels much smoother and softer and far less dry.

But it will probably all flare up again once i come off the tsblets in 3 weeks.

A friend of mine with similar issues is on immunosuppressant tablets but the consultant didnt think i needed them.

I get different advice from my gp to the consultant. Gp says come off steroid tablets asap, consultant says its ok to stay on a moderate dose for several weeks. Gp says not to use dermovate on my face, consultant says its ok for 2 weeks.

I have no idea what to do. And cant seem to get over my fear of using the dermovate on my face.

Sorry for going on about myself so much. But would appreciate any advice.
