Mole removal by GP?

If you see your GP and they advise mole removal and offer to do it, can you a "thanks but no thanks" and ask for a referral to the hospital? especially if you are not too sure of said doctors procedures.

How do you ask forcefully for a referral?

I had a mole removed by my GP and it was no problem but I did make sure he was sending it for biopsy, this he did and it was nothing but a mole, why not check that out with him before you decide,it will be quicker to get it done at the GPs than waiting for a hospital referal

I have also had a mole removed by my GP, it was sent for histology and thankfully wasn't sinister. As lilyliz has said you might have to wait longer for a hospital appt.

Oh dear footle... Assuming all was okay?!

So it's okay to have it removed at the GP? Advice on embarrassing bodies a few weeks ago was always we referred, not to
Let GP do it!

Gps are trained in surgery, if they offer and especially if they do alot I would much rather go to GP than hospital.

Why on eath did EB say to avoid them?

SwirlsAndDots · 02/07/2012 21:43
