Can fish oil be absorbed through the skin?

My friend is adamant that rubbing omega 3 oil into her dd's skin is an effective way go getting omega 3 into her child but I find it hard to believe that the body can absorb it effectively that way. I would really like my ds's to take omega 3 supplements but they won't take them but I'm dubious about wasting my money rubbing it into their skin (and it will stink won't it?)

I think it can be absorbed that way, but it does stink.

hmm, don't think so

wouldn't it be classed as a medicine if it could be absorbed down below the epidermis?
