Any quick cures for conjunctivities in adult?

I have a bit of conjunctivitis. I assume it's conjunctivitis. I've tried Golden Eye from the chemist but it's not doing much to clear it up. (Golden Eye is 0.1% w/v eye drops solution Propamidine Isetionate - it says here). Has anyone tried something that actually works? I've had this for ages now. Thanks!

All I ever use on me or kids is boiled water, cooled with salt added and then bathe lots of times. Usually goes away in two days.

If it is recurring/long running have you been to GP?

Brolene eye drops ?

( DP recommends )

Thanks. I've tried salty water. Will try Brolene, which has also been mentioned to me in Boots. Thanks. It's all a bit weird because I've had it since I got new glasses and they just seem to cause problems. Blardy varifocals Shock.

Do you have access to breastmilk? Works a treat..

headfairy · 28/06/2012 11:56

If you want a double whammy use Brolene drops during the day, and then the brolene cream at night (it makes your vision quite blurry so don't use it during the day if you want to actually see anything :o). I can usually get rid of conjunctivitis in 36 hours doing that.

LOL Do I have access to breastmilk!!! Yes, I've heard this too. But no. No breast milk around in my house. Will try some blasting with Brolene.

Wet teabags

I always just got Chloramphenicol eye drops.. I used to get conjunctivitis more frequently when I wore contact lenses.

It would clear up within a day or so.

You can get antibiotic eye drops over the counter now. I think Optrex do one called "Infected Eyes". Should clear it up quickly. Otherwise the only other option I know of is using plain salt water.
