Which is scafoid

If it is the one at the base of the thumb, when I broke mine it was also serrated and there were concerns that if I moved it I would slowly sever the tendon, so I was in plaster.

I was in a splint intil fracture clinic a week later where it was potted, lots of swelling likely so they didn't pot straight away

until, not intil -doh!

itis that one bear, it is very swollen so that could be why, i just keep using my thumb with out thinking and getting this shooting pain. hopefully my not so clever braiin will work it out soon. also feeling really emotional and weird think just beacuse of the pain.

My mum had this a few months ago, and they didn't plaster it, - but I really think they should have done, she was in a lot of pain.Mind you that might be because the hospital near her is crap, they didn't even ask her to come back to see if it was healing, - she's 90 and had just had a fall.

But I digress, - I think if you are bothered you should go back and ask about getting a plaster on in.

can you tighten the thumb strap on your splint?

you can actually wiggle your thumb about in a plaster anyway

you could always put a sling on to give your brain more of a hint that you shouldn't be using that hand -you should be keeping it elevated if swollen anyway

ExitPursuedByABear · 27/06/2012 16:35

I think we need to know what you have done to break it.

i tripped up some stepa, sorry for that is so boring its untrue. i wsnt even drunk, i must look so boring at ht ehospital they didnt even ask if i had been drinking which my freinds say they always ask if you fall.

If its not definate that you've broken it, then the standard is to splint until the repeat x-ray. You won't do anything bad by using your thumb

swooosh · 27/06/2012 18:53

its usually just put in a splint until you attend clinic

cool thanks thats reassuring.
