I am sitting here in a plaster cast from toes to knee feeling very cross with myself and very fed up Sad

Might need some cheering up over the next few weeks.

I missed this thread - it must be driving you mad not to be able to do anything. I had both legs in plaster up to the knee once but I was only 5 so it wasn't so bad Grin

A friend of mine slipped on her front step when it was icy while very pregnant with her first baby. She broke her leg in two places and had it in plaster almost up to her hip...she gave birth like that Shock (they did talk about taking the cast off whhile she was in labour but the MW was happy to go ahead with it on). She managed very well - and then had a few weeks with her new baby girl and her still in the plaster!

Hope this last week goes quickly for you.

You have my complete sympathy, i have a broken leg too in 5 places,( i stept out of my car and no i wasnt drunk) i broke it on boxing day and it was so bad that i had to have a pin and a stay in hospital for 2.5 weeks. Its has been 9/10 weeks and will be another 6 or so till i can walk without the crutches.

i have a little one and it is so hard not being able to do anything. Did you know that you can get a perching stoll and a trolley from social services for free so you can push dinner/ drinks etc as it really is a pain in the butt not being able to carry hot drinks.

Get well soon, if you want to cat me to moan you are more than welcome.

What painkillers are you on?

Kayleigh · 15/03/2006 20:55

oh jellyjelly, you poor thing. God, yours is a hundred times worse than mine.
I was only on painkillers the first week - very strong ibuprofen. After that I haven't been in any pain at all. It just sometimes gets a bit achy at the end of the day.

I'm just moaning 'cos I'm so bored. My 4 weeks in plaster is nothing compared to yours.
I will CAT you, but not because I want to moan - I want to offer you loads of sympathy.

I have had my ups and down but can now put on 6 stone of weight now, have tried walking but look like a toddler with a full nappy. (well that is how my mum said i looked anyway). Have an appointment on friday so will hopefully be told that i can do 8 stone.

I also hope that i will be walking normally in july as i get married on the first.

my leg swells alot wheni have been walking or taking the mickey.

Are you going to get a trolley, it has been my saver as now i dont need anyone here to help, i can do it myself!!! So proud, i even managed to put my ds in his car seat and get round to the drivers for the first time.

Kayleigh · 15/03/2006 21:09

I've only got a week to go so can probably manage now without the trolly. Plus I can put weight on it now - although am being very careful - if I put all my weight on it who knows what would happen !!
We hired a wheelchair so I have been able to get out and about a bit which has made a difference.

How old is your ds ? How has he been coping with Mummy not being able to walk ?

Have you got physio booked or do you not need it.? Got mine booked for Monday. I am walking so much better and i was told that my nasty scar can be made better in about a year and a half.
