Hi
Im very fed up so could do with some company. I gave up smoking 2 months since (dont know if this relevant) and been smoking them electronic cigs.

Anyway started getting ill on wednesday and made a same day appointment with the gp. However i never went as my daughter fell off the slide and broke her arm.

On thursday i felt better and friday morning. However come six oclock on friday night i started with my coughing then could get a breath and wheezing really bad. Nhs direct wanted a ambulance as i couldnt speak proper. But i refused as didnt want to scare the kids. So got my mum to brig me to a&e took us around twenty minutes as due to rain roads where flooded.

Anyway got here my chest xray only showed a slight infection but i was having a chronic ashtma attack. This was a big surprise to me as im 28 and never suffered with asthma.

Now im still in hospital still wheezing but much better than last night.

Do you think i might go home tomorrow. What have i got to do to stop this happening apart from inhalers. Why do you think i started with asthma. If i go home tomorrow do you reckon i could go to work monday?

Sorry for the questions. Just fed up and no one to talk to. :0(

I have no answers I'm sorry.
I really hope you feel better and can come home soon.

I would say no to work to Monday though, you have been quite poorly. Asthma shouldn't be messed with and you need rest :)

Asthma can develop at any age. Are you still needing nebulizers or have you been ok without them today? I'd say take Monday off then see how you feel but my DD is an asthmatic often hospitalised by attacks and she often goes back to work the next day. She was really bad Thursday but still managed to compete in her swimming gala tonight. The medications for asthma are quite effective these days, the hospital might suggest you have a follow-up appointment at their asthma clinic to see how you're going.

I developed brittle asthma at 32, and am now disabled because of it.
It can strike at any age.
Look after you, and keep posting. It's rubbish being in hospital.

Hope your feeling better soon.

I know with DS he is only discharged when he has managed to get down to 5 puffs of ventolin every 4 hours, not sure what it is for adults though.

If you keep having attacks then you will need to try to figure what the triggers are to attempt to avoid them as much as possible.

Im still on nebuliser every few hours Feel better than i did on friday.

However im still out of breath just walking to the end of the ward to use the toilet. Hopefully will be back up and running come sunday.

Do you reckon its because i gave up smoking.

Dunno, but I have a friend who had really bad asthma as a child which improved when he grew up. When he gave up smoking his asthma reappeared for the first time in 30 years.
