Hip pain during period. What could this be?

The past few months I had have pain in one hip thats there for the 1st 3/4 days of my period.

At first I thought I had pulled a muscle or twisted funny as its not like the period pains I used to get when I was young across the tops of my thighs etc. It is like a muscle injury.

However, it has just occurred to me that this is the 4th month on the trot I have had this when I have my period and I get it at no other time. I dont have "normal" period pains and my periods are pretty much OK if a little heavy at times. Its actually really painful effects my sleep as I cannot get comfy in bed and at its worse makes walking uncomfortable.

I am 39 and had my DC 11 and 13 years ago.

Anyone had similar? Any ideas what it can be? Advice??

Hi I’m 46 and have the same problem in my left hip. It started in 2012 and was at a point I couldn’t walk very far. Was in liquid morphine. I’d had 3 children at this point. Had a laparoscopy to check for endometriosis or abrasions from c section but all clear. My doctor jokingly said get pregnant and it should go. I did and it did. My child is 5 and the pain is now back. No idea if the cause as yet. Bloods and xray clear. Getting physio review next week.

I had threeee SAME exact issues. And mine honestly felt identical to kidney stones. These were my EXACT SYMPTOMS you had! I felt pain in my kidneys accompanied by uti symptoms.
Then came the hip pain to one side. I also could feel a giant lump next to my left hip.
Fast forward, I ended up in the ER for kidney stone symptoms. The pain meds they gave me while there stopped threeee flank pain, but suddenly my hips were hurting and it reminded me I better mention the pain in my hips.
With a catscan using contrast and internal/external ultra sound, they found a cyst the size of a baseball on my right ovary (or what was left of my ovary).
The cyst got wrapped up in my fallopian tube and ovary, cutting off blood supply to my ovary causing it to die. It was basically decaying in my body, causing infection.
Never did have a kidney stone that day. Upou need to go to the doctor

I don't know but remember I used to get pain in the front of both thighs during a period; the rest of the time I had no aches and pains.

Hi OP, did you ever find out what the problem was? I’m 25 and have the exact same symptom as you that started this year. Pain in one hip during the first 3/4 days of my period. I don’t have bad periods except for this and it also makes me limp a little And feels more like a muscle injury so it’s random it’s connected to my period. My doctor was pretty confused when I told them about it and was unhelpful. I have scoured the internet for what it could be but this is the only post that I could find that explains exactly what is happening. It would be super helpful if you could let me know what happened with your experience 😊

I had same. Symptoms. Burning pee went away though, doc thought thrush. My hip acutally swells during my period, more so than usual. Doc thinks something going in in the hip, musculoskeletal. I'm 4 months on now, and hip pain is presenting more, with no period. Was it a hip problem in the end?

I guess it just aggrivates the injury in the hip... When bloating occurs etc...? You're the only person I've found that has linked a period with increased hip pain 😊

I got this following my pregnancies. I was diagnosed with SJD and told my hip/pelvis area relaxes just as it does in pregnancy when on a period. I’ve subsequently been diagnosed with hyper mobility and osteoarthritis. The only thing that has really helped me is being active.
