Thanks for taking the time to read this.

About two years ago I started getting pains at the top of my right abdomen underneath the ribcage. I went for an ultrasound and they found one small gallstone. The surgeon then said we should take it out and I was booked for surgery. I, however, chickened out and thought I would wait and see what happens as although it was uncomfortable it wasn't affecting my life greatly.

Fast forward a year and a half, the pain has gotten worse, and it lasts longer, and it spreads to my back. I also feel nauseous and could go a whole day without eating and not be bothered (I do eat though as I work FT and have a ds so need the energy).

So I go back to the doctor and am sent for a few tests - first an ultrasound which shows nothing, then an endoscopy which shows a small hiatal hernia (where the stomach pushes up above the diaphragm). Explains the nausea and heartburn, then I am sent for two MRIs, one with contrast agent and one without. This shows a hemangioma on my liver, or a benign tumour. The consultant rang me up and said 'We have found a hemangioma, nothing to worry about good bye'.

I made another appointment for the doctor, really just to get reassurance and was told that the hemnagioma is not causing my pain, and that it is probably IBS as I have things like bloating.

This was the end of the conversation by the doctor:

'I think you should get some Actimel for the IBS'.

I am not a doctor so therefore I don't know, but should I be asking whether I could see someone about these conditions and if they can advise me on how to prevent them becoming worse? I don't know what to do really, the last six months have been quite a bit worse than the previous six.

Thanks for reading, tbh I feel better just getting it out there....

From my own experience of the NHS, I would say go back to your GP and ask questions, whatever questions you want the answer to. If he can't give you satisfactory responses, ask for a referral to a liver specialist.

If you're worried, or concerned, or something doesn't feel right, keep pushing.
