DS due for his MMR next month. What is the current opinion on safety of MMR / link to autism. Also anyone paid for single jabs - how much do they cost and what are the drawbacks?

there are quite a few archive threads on this. basic premise is the research that points to a risk states only a very small number of children are vulnerable to damage, but the problem is identifying them. History of crohns or gut problems in family/child thought to be a risk factor. www.jabs.org.uk list country wide clinics for single jabs. HTH.

hijack sorry- ruty have you got any further re tetanus. DS2 is 4 now and I'd really like him to have it before he starts school I think, ds3 is such an adventurous nightmare I think he will need it sometime as well, but all the various combination of possibilities (and lack of possibilities) make my head spin.

Not sure what the proper up to date advice is. My dd had hers as late as possible - my hv said she needed it before she was 18 months and she had it on that day! Fingers crossed all was OK but it is such a difficult decision to make.

Just wanted to give you my support really.

hi jimjams - no i haven't yet - still thinking about the diftavax option i was offered but intending to do it a bit later - at 4 probably it would feel more urgent. I mentioned before, it was a single vaccine clinic that offered it to us and they said that it was mercury free and had a lower dose of diptheria than the infant jabs and same amount of tetanus.

Cheers ruty- I suspect we'll do the same.

ruty · 24/02/2006 20:53

i do worry about it tho - like your ds3 my ds is an adventurous nightmare! maybe i should summon up the courage to get it done...

getbakainyourjimjams · 24/02/2006 20:56

ruty · 24/02/2006 20:56
