Should I breastfeed through vomiting bug?

Ds3 has been vomiting daily since last Fri night. He also has an ear infection so is on ABs. Are you supposed to keep bf or does that come under the heading of dairy? It's the only thing he wants to eat or drink at the moment. He's 13months old.

No keep b'feeding. Also if you can get probiotics down him then it may help rebablance his gut while on ab's and for a bit afterwards.

Keep bf. It used to be the only fluid I could get dd to keep down when she was really ill and stopped her becoming dehydrated. I was mixing formula and bf at the time and she couldn't tolerate the formula but breast milk was fine.

it's not dairy. unless you're a cow I guess...

Thanks, thats what I thought.
I can be a bit of a cow, sometimes, soupy!

There is also evidence that if YOU drink probiotics they will pass through your milk, so that's worth a go too

breastmilk is chemically bound up so that it's very hard for the tummy bugs to get much nutrition out of it. So breastmilk is like water to them, no more. Breastfeeding is about the only way you might be able to get some food into the kid without also feeding the bug (so def. do keep it up).

Thanks everyone, he's much better today! zebra, that is interesting, I did wonder if I was just feeding the bug but obviously not.
morningpaper thanks for that. Out with the live yoghurts for me!
