SPD after pregnancy - is the advice the same - any other suggestions?

I had horrendous SPD throughout my pregnancy and now at my six-week check up I have been told that the pain I'm suffering is because it is still there (I wasn't sure whether it was to do with the EMCS I had).

I know the general advice for SPD when pregnant but wondered if there is anything additional more specific to post pregnancy that people an add? E.g. I can take ibuprofen now, which I would have killed for when pregnant.

I'm really hoping that it goes by twelve weeks, which is when the doctor says the pregnancy hormones should be out of my system, but keep reading horror stories of people suffering years down the line. :-(

I can't remember what I did at your stage, other than still wear my tubigrip when I needed to. I am one of those horror stories, but several things have helped me over the years (and subsequent pgs):
comfy mattress
shoes with good arch supports
pilates
trying to get my abdominal muscles to say hello to each other in the middle again
paying for manipulation when I got really fed up with things
taking up climbing - did wonders for my core and abdominals, really helped stabilise my pelvis

Hello blooblies when you say manipulation do you mean physio, chiropractor or osteopath? I did see an osteopath once but didn't think it made much difference.

In my experience, physios don't do much manipulation. In my previous pg I used an osteopath which made me feel brilliant for a day or two before everything slipped back out of alignment. I have now found someone that has a more integrated approach. I got a really thorough assessment, massage, identification of specific muscles which were seized and causing me problems, manipulation and specific stretches to do. I now know what to do if things slip out which will help to get me back to normal again. I would definitely recommend looking around your area to see what else is out there.

Thank you, I have found a post-natal Pilates class that I will give a try if someone can mind the baby.

Oh no, I have spd at the mo, and am just gritting my teeth trying to get on with it. I've got 5wks to go but am a bit Shock at this, my MW said it would go after the birth.
Ive got awful tummy muscles too from my previous DS!?

Hiya boyswillgrow apparently it does go quickly for most people, so chances ate you'll be lucky. Do make sure that they don't muck you about during labour, I'm convinced that made me worse, I had a terrible obstetrician who paid no attention to me telling her that I couldn't manage certain positions. Angry
