I'm really irritable, full of tension, snappy, tired, bloated and general aaarrrggghhh. I really dislike myself this week every month.

What can I do, to make it less severe?

Really appreciate it. As I'm a bitch to be around and DP is struggling with it :(

cabbage helps me.I eat it raw,2 or 3 times a week in bad weeks,1 or 2 times a week in good weeks.Doesnt have to be the really green varieties.
Know it isnt the nicest food to recommend, but makes a big difference to me, so worth it.

Should have said,I expect having it cooked will work too.

I had PMS and spent half the month on a low dose of ADs then the worse, other half on double the dose. My symptoms were really severe, I was really depressed and out of control around my periods. Hormonal migraines I had were treated with zomig which really helped too.

Coupled with exercise this helped me a lot.

EPO didnt do much for me but I was doing everything at once iyswim so it could have positivly contributed.

Get some blood tests done and ask to get a print out of results
Tsh/t4 for thyroid (tsh should be under 2)
Ferritin and b12 for anaemia
Maybe hormones as well but don't know what test those would be

I had horrendous pmt - was my thyroid

Blood tests okay that's a good idea. Thanks

The significance of ovulation is the burst of hormones that are happening to release the egg. Your hormones throughout the month increase and at the peak you ovulate and release an egg. Sometimes people suffer nearer their period as the hormone levels are decreasing.

Wanda Mine starts gradually when I ovulate but is alot worse just before my period is due Sad

The two weeks between ovulation and period swings all over the place for me but it definitely starts at ovulation. Panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, general anger and temper. Once my period comes I'm like a different person. I hate it. I could commit murder one minute and be normal the next.

B6 works for me, I haven't run amok with a breadknife even once since I started taking it (I take 10mg which is about 6 times RDA AFAIK - I'd be wary of going higher because there can be side effects) Good luck - as you can see most people do manage to find something that works for them - nobody reading this needs to resign themselves to living with this.

I'm out doing some shopping for bits for my wedding today so will be stocking up on vitamins & minerals whilst I'm out. Thanks ladies Smile

Hi everyone
Just wanted to put it out there to all women suffering pmt or pms please do yourself the biggest favour ever and try the plan in the book pmt/reversing the curse - it is the only thing I have found that worked for my severe pms and not only gave I no more pmt symptoms I also lost half a stone and kept it off have the boundless energy I had in my teans look as good as Iv ever done - no more puffy runny eyes spots or bloating but best of all -,I like myself again and I'm not behaving like the demented demon from hell : ) this is a great little book available on amazon or pms-pmtaction.com god luck

Hi,

I produce a blog filled with tips/techniques to reduce your PMT.

I used to suffer in a similar way as you described until I started to work on the following three areas of my self:

Mental Well-being, Nutrition and Health

I have found that if any one of the areas above is lacking or problematic this seems to heighten PMS symptoms…. the most documented cures for PMS focus on Nutrition and Health, but if your Mental Wellbeing is also low, then you may struggle to reduce your symptoms.
