Does gallbladder removal affect calorie absorption?

Just that really!

I'm trying to get my weight down, and have cut my calorific intake; nothing drastic, just more cutting out the crap.

I'm using My Fitness Pal app, and have set it for a gradual decrease so about 1500-1800 calories a day; my old diet would have been nearer 2000 (this maintained my weight so less should be a reduction). I have discussed this with a nurse, and been checked over and they don't feel this is unreasonable.

However, I had my gallbladder out in November, and
I'm starting to feel a bit, well, wonky - almost like when I forget to eat while playing with DS Blush

So, does lack of gallbladder mean my body may not be absorbing calories as efficiently? Which would possibly account for my feeling wonky?

Short answer: no.

Sounds like your blood sugar is low at times which is unconnected to your gallbladder. Eat regular meals with foods with a low glycaemic index (slow release of energy). Have small snacks e.g. a few nuts or a cracker between meals but avoid sugary foods. Go easy on caffeine - it doesn't lower your blood sugar but makes the wonky feelings worse. And make sure you are drinking enough as dehydration will also make them worse.

Your diet sounds very sensible so stick with it but you may need to adjust the times at which you eat so that you are eating more often - stick to the same number of calories as in your diet plan but you may be better having 4-5 small meals than 3 larger ones.

Yeah. I do have low-ish (ie not low enough for medication, but still enough for a doctor to mutter about it) blood pressure, so it could be that either.

It just seemed coincidental that it's kicked in now.

Mind you, the crap I am cutting out is the high sugar, high fat stuff so I probably do need stuff that is slow release...

It's all just so confusing these days. I liked the days of the pretty divided plate picture with the portions you were supposed to have Grin
