I don't want to

but I can't hear anything in meetings and it is irritating everyone. Also still have bad cough.

I feel OK tbh but the deafness is isolating and upsetting me.

they feel it is pg related. My gp doesnt agree and will sign me off sick...BUT I dont want to go yet, have tons of things I want to finish before I go

thanks bk that is useful to know

I have been doing everything I can think of to clear it - sniffing salt water, steaming etc etc - I feel great but am very deaf (can't 'pop' ears at all)

I know it will clear soon. I have asked people to speak loudly and clearly to me and some do - some whisper fgs why on earth do they think that will help. Whispering and making big exaggerated facial gestures

Speak up young man, whats that ?? You are about to discriminate against me on two grounds, me being PG and me being deaf

Enif · 21/02/2006 14:08

lolol

perhaps they think a few weeks of deafness has already taught you how to lip read perfectly

either that or they're taking the piss and calling you names you can't hear

LadySherlockofLGJ · 21/02/2006 14:09

She is being paid to be your assistant and now she really really needs to assist, well tough.

Agree with everything LGJ has said- how DARE they? Can't believe they are getting irritated by it- hope it gets better for your sake, not theirs!

mousiemousie · 21/02/2006 15:29

My hearing became worse due to pregnancy hormones accelerating my otosclerosis - I had to have an operation after the baby was born .

Hopefully your problem is only temporary though - this is miserable for you and you shouldn't be bullied for it

GO! I was finally forced away by illness and I'm sooo glad, b/c I gave birth a week later.

Enif · 21/02/2006 15:33

am at home now

they are being really unfeeling but then they have slightly had it in for me since I told them i was pg

I have told them I have no intention of starting my maternity leave early but I may take more time off sick. They looked very pissed off. Tough. I am sick of the stupid old council of management, bloody miserable volunteers

Well done.

Enid - bk is totally correct - but because this is newish (well only 2 years old) legislation a lot of employers don't realise it. Stick to your guns.
