I'm pretty sure there is but pharmacist says no. I can't get an appt to see GP before we go away and my nose feels like it's going to explode!

Hi,

I looked into it and think it may partly depend on age of baby. I suffer really badly.

When the kids were babies I stuck to nasal steroid sprays and eye drops which helped a lot and GP checked & reported OK. Used to use Beconase but Flixonase seems better. Will take a few days to get going so dont give up.

Now daughter is 3 and still feeding Shock I know. I do take the daily Cetirizine but after I feed (only first/last thing & often not at all)

Otherwise top tips (apologies if already known) are having a shower in the evening to wash pollen out of hair so you dont rub into pillow and hence close to eyes and nose. Keep windows closed at night- yeah right in this weather! and not sitting outside in evening.

Hope things improve!

Oh, Piriton was OK'd by GP but is only short acting and is sedative.

Thanks for your reply. Baby is over a year old and only feeds first thing and last thing. I think it's lovely that your dd is still feeding.

I seem to already so everything you mention in your top tips. I haven't had any itchy eyes yet, just nasal pressure and lots of sneezing and needing to blow my nose so I may try rubbing vaseline in my nostrils. Worth a try I think.

Hi,

I have been using the steroid nasal sprays since kids were babies as OK'd by GP- usually supposed to use am & pm so usually do it after feeding am and same in evening. Does make a huge difference but can take a while to reduce the inflammation.

Didnt intend feeding this long it just hasnt stopped! I am taking Cetirizine at the moment (1/2 tablet morning 1/2 night as feel a bit odd with the full daily dose in one tablet)- Have been giving liquid form to DS in summer since the age of 2 so think if DD gets a tiny bit it shouldnt be a problem at age 3. However changed all their OTC antihistamines to age 6 & over but not sure why ? parents trying to sedate their kids?

Forgot about the vaseline!

HOw about this. I havent tried it but was thinking of getting some for DS1.

I had acupunture on Monday and it has stopped - it was really bad Monday, no idea if it is fluke or it has worked - but I am not complaining Smile

Have a look on the breastfeeding network site. They have lots of info on medications. I can't link as on my phone, sorry!

Ones with loratadine will be fine for that age baby and amount of feeds - I asked the pharmacist at work (hospital) and he got his big book of breastfeeding-friendly drugs out, and it was in there. Smile

They usually market that as the non-drowsy version, at least in Tesco it is.

I think there is some information on the 'offical' breastfeeding-type websites but I never bothered looking - if the pharmacist said it was OK I believed him.

Thanks all, you are much more helpful than the pharmacist!

I'm hoping to be able to buy something in Boots at the airport and now I feel armed with lots of info to help me.

Thank you
