Oh god I have a colonoscopy on Thursday and just ate curry and minstrels, is it going to be okay?

Argh ffs - I somehow managed to forget about it and ate leftover curry (pakoras), and a load of minstrels - I am supposed to be on a low-residue diet! Is it going to be okay and will the doctor be able to tell?

From the air they blow up you, pesto? It's mentioned in my factsheet - it says "the staff will have seen it before so don't be embarrassed" basically which has got me convinced I am going to poo on someone!

I have NOT done enough poo. Haven't been to the loo loads or anything. Sachet effects have worn off. What is wrong with my guts Sad

You might not have to worry about passing wind afterwards as it will quite possibly happen while you are still woozy from the anaesthetic. If I did it I certainly don't remember it. I was off home 3hrs after the procedure and I was wondering why I wasn't farting, must have happened in recovery Confused.

Hahahah Meglet well what you don't know... I'd be okay with blissful ignorance!

I am convinced the procedure will have to be abandoned tomorrow as I am not at all 'cleaned out' Sad I will tell the doctor about my (lack of), reaction to the sachets though as it might be important in itself?

yes, tell them you're not sure if it worked or not. I was poo-ing out water by the end of it, I had three sachets though.

Are you still able to drink water? And nil by mouth tomorrow morning?

MoreCowbell · 30/05/2012 23:22

Yes, I've been drinking loads of water - NBM from 10.30am tomorrow. I will tell them but it's just my absolute worst fear that I'll poo on someone and it looks like it's going to come true Sad

Just wanted to wish you lots and lots of luck for today - both with the procedure and the results and I hope they are able to go through with it. One of the worst parts of all this is the waiting.

We are leaving shortly - I will be thinking of you and just wanted to say its really helped me to feel less alone through all this chatting with More and the others who have contributed to her thread, so thanks

MoreCowbell · 31/05/2012 07:33

slipper I'll be thinking of you too - got my fingers crossed it all goes as well as possible for you.

How are you doing More?

MoreCowbell · 01/06/2012 16:00

Hello slipper I was just wondering about you and here you are! I actually just woke up Blush - am surprised how dopey I felt/feel after the sedatives - I swear they didn't kick in until after it was all over.

How did it go for you? I found the colonoscopy easier than the gastroscopy but part of that was because they let me watch the colonoscopy on screen, which was quite interesting (I know I am odd!)

They took lots of biopsies so I have to wait until those results come back but it looks like the problem is in my upper GI rather than colon. How are you feeling? Did you find anything out?

I think they give you sedatives a bit late don't you. They give it to you then start straight after.

I didn't realise they would moved me around so much and the nurse kept lying over me. Half way through my blood pressure started to go up so they gave me more meds after that it was a lot better. The staff were chatty and kept making jokes which relaxed me to.

I felt a bit unwell today. My back has been sore.

They can't connect anything in my colon to my symptoms so the search continues. Scans next I think. He told me to try and remain positive so last night I booked a weekend away in London for my dh and ds! Not sure thats what he meant Smile

Did they say how long the biopsy results take? Are you any closer to knowing what the problem is?

I will have colonoscopy tomorrow, I am very scared... Any advice from people who have experienced this procedure? Thank you in advance.

MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 04/11/2014 22:31

If you have survived the prep.. the procedure is a doddle in comparison!

I have one (my 2nd) on Monday... hate the prep!
