Have you ever managed to 'relaunch' yourself, in style, health or other ways?

I feel like I need a major 'overhaul'.... The last 7 years have been a constant whirlwind of stress and change:

  • difficult births of 2 kids
  • made redundant
  • DH left job and started up on own
  • death of a parent, serious illness of inlaws
  • on-going relationship issues (now resolved I think) ...

Anyway, I am about to stop work fulltime and go freelance, ideally spend more time with kids and focus on family life and DH a bit more, but I feel like I need a complete 'life makeover'!

a) Am about a stone overweight
b) health is crap - get out of breath too easily
c) Have no decent clothes, because I won't buy any 'cos of a) (in denial that size 12 can look a bit tight sometimes)
d) hair is boring
e) teeth need whitening and straightening
f) need to rebuild my friends and social life

I don't know what happened really - I seem to have lost all my 'spark' and confidence...

Just wondered - do people really manage to 'relaunch' themselves (new & improved). And if so, how did you do it/ get the motivation etc?

Hi Girls,

Wondering how you are all getting along?

My glow is wearing thin these days thanks to teething baby and every winter bug hitting the kids despite it being spring!!!!!!!!

Will make an effort to route through the makeup bag to get the foundation on!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi there -
woke up this morning super-stressed and knackered as always as being crazy insomniac these past weeks - last night and all time low of 1 1/2 hours, 2 hours the night before- it's not even by baby's fault it's me who can't sleep!

Then, opened up e-mail feeling all sorry for self only to find a message from a dear old friend who's just lost his mum, 3 weeks from diagnosis to her death Shock
A cliche, I know, but put my tiny problems in perspective. I'm hoping to sleep a little better tonight, even if it's only 2 or 3 hours then can
hope to adopt more of a "seize the day" spirit. I want to be calmer and more relaxed around dh and ds1, take up yoga or something to help me do this and just try and appreciate the many things I've got..

mumof3 - might join you in the foundation application, maybe an outer glow will go more than skin-deep?!

Hi there Mischief,

I know where your coming from on the sleep depreivation. I have awful trouble since my third baby arrived with sleep. The one thing I have found that has really helped me is a product called ZenBev. check out www.zenbev.com. All it is is high concentrate of pumpkin seeds. Since I have started it I have been sleeping a bit better. Some nights 5 or 6 hours in a row. Its a vicious circle when you dont sleep well as you have to remain somewhat normal the next day and then the next night your so tired you are nearly overtired. Prehaps this might help you.

Also I have started yoga again and I do find it great. All this thing of getting up when you cannot sleep etc. you stresses you out more. Try and see your bed as a place for even relaxing and just resting even if you cannot sleep and sometimes unknown to you your nod off. Oh yes when I was trying everything known to man to sleep I did contact the info line on Zenbev to see was it safe to take, (its only a food at the end of the day) but they hightly recommend a eyemask also.

Feel free to moan to me as I have been there and last night no amount of highlighter, bronzer or face lift would have made any difference to my appearance!!! Take heart your not alone, we all have bad patches of sleep deprivation and I do not know any Mum who escapes it!!!!!!
