Falling apart: endometriosis?

Hi all

I am under such stress, have gained 3st and my IBS is heinous. I'm taking up to 8 immodium tablets a day (Dr's orders) to get to work.

However, to chuck an added 'fun factor' into the mix, Dr today said he suspected I might have endometriosis too. I did have a referral to gyne a few years ago because of painful sex and failure to conceive but I got pregnant before they gave me a laparoscopy.

My periods are heavy (2 pads and a tampon), long (heavy bleeding for a couple of days, then lots of - sorry TMI - nasty discharge for 5 more), very painful (awful cramps, awful OV pain, lots of upset stomachs which I attributed to IBS). I'm usually depressed. This is not meant to sound flippant, I really am.

I'm interested to hear if anyone else has this, how they were treated and what a difference has it made to them?

I'm tired all of the time and am a binge eater because of stress/low energy. What does endometriosis do to you?

Thanks for any advice. I do appreciate it Smile.

The endometrosis I have was caused through having a c section, in me it is very painfull and restricts my ability to bend down. I have had it shrunk a few times with a chemical induced menopause a few times, and injection for pain relief.

I was told the only cure is pregnancy or the menopause Sad.

I have IBS as well which I was told is due to me having EDS. I also have the depression, weight gain and low energy, I was told that was due to EDS and sleep apnea.

I had no problem at all getting pregnant, I wasn't trying with the first and the first try with the second. I and my partner were both young when I conceieved both children and the second was a year after the first.

I've had 2, interestingly both by CS. My IBS became loads worse after CS to have DD (13 years ago), and period issues started then.

The gyne 6 years ago thought pregnancy would help. Sadly, it seems not.

Having started the dreaded googling, I really think I've got it. I've been treating some quite horrendous pain symptoms as a normal period.

Thanks Lady.

I was looked at like Hmm this by GP's in the past before I got the diagnosis, told I IBS was causing the pain, a hernia was causing the pain, tested for STD's, eventually send to gyne for the diagnosis.

I don't have a lot of faith in Dr's, unless you are an easy text book disease, they are fairly useless, and I have been let down by so many dr's over so many health issues.

Have you had a scan to see the lump of endometrosis? mine is in the csection scar and is apparently inoperable, maybe I should get a second opinion one day.

Nothing yet - he wants to do an internal and refer me?

I agree about Drs though; DD has cancer. Don't even get me started on how shit the GPs were. I ended up taking her to A&E myself. And then I still had another 2 month fight on my hands!

I am sorry to hear you had that experience.
