Straightening teeth as an adult

Is there a way to straighten your teeth at least a little bit without having a full on brace?

How do the celebs go from having crap teeth one day to fantastically the next. I can understand whitening and having veneers on to make them look better but how do they sort wonky teeth out?

Google the London Lingual Orthodontic Clinic.

As Lev says - braces attached to the inner surface of the teeth.

I had that, in my 30s (tho' happily i am not a celeb of any sort). Hugely expensive, but great results. Also, the teeth move pretty quickly, so although you are wearing the braces for a long time (several years in my case) the teeth have moved considerably in the first six months so look good straight away.

I did wonder how it was done.
Then was watching a film earlier and julianne moores character put retainers in at night
I could cope with that

Oh me too! I only have one wonky tooth but it ruins my smile :( how much are we talking for inside brace?

skrullandcrossbones · 20/05/2012 23:06

I didn't pay for it, bronze, but I think it was about £7k in the end - very expensive! I think it could be cheaper elsewhere, though LLC was brilliant, faultless service. It's quite time-consuming (visits about every 6 weeks to have the braces adjusted) and it was painful at times. Lovely to finally have straight teeth though.

Mine was a tricky one though - lots of wonky teeth in varying directions. If yours is less awkward would be cheaper and quicker.

There is another 'invisible' kind of brace which is cheaper - I think it's called Invisalign, where you wear a see-through brace over your teeth. My teeth were too wonky for that, but if yours are less bad then it might be an option.

DaenerysTargaryen · 20/05/2012 23:49

Wow 7k!

skrullandcrossbones · 20/05/2012 23:50

i know! monthly payments over 3 years.

sashh · 21/05/2012 06:21

Invisalign - they worked for me

Inman aligners can be used too

CMOTDibbler · 21/05/2012 08:16

My colleague did invisalign - £2k I think, and it worked really well for her. You couldn't see the brace when she was wearing it

Yika · 27/05/2012 21:16

I used invisalign, can recommend (clear retainers). Easy to use, no discomfort, truly invisible. Took 2 years and cost around 4.5k.

yellowraincoat · 27/05/2012 21:19

My partner had invisalign, cost him about £3000 i think. Couldn't really see the braces unless you were right up, his teeth were WONKY as hell, now they are perfect.

Took about 18 months all in.
