I have really bad toothache since crunching on a sweet (v. bad as I am on a diet but thats a different story...). Anyway, I think part of it has lodged in my gum and it is throbbing! I have taken painkillers, and can't see the dentist until the morning, so does anyone know any remedies to make it go away??

This is probably not a very helpful reply! But when DH's wisdom's were bugging him the only thing that helped was to drink a dispersable cocodamol whilst it was still bitty in the glass and force all the little bits into his gums!

That's probably not reccommended at all, for anything though. And it tastes like sea water that a diseased fish vomited up...

can you see the tooth in the mirror? can you dislodge it with something? (the bit, not the tooth)

I can just imagine how it tastes, but I really don't care as it is really painful!!!
Right, off to phone MIL to see if she has any - she has all types of potions for pain!!!
Thanks

Can you get rid of it by swishing your mouth aroundwith mouthwash. Otherwise whisky.

Not much advice but sympathy as I have terrible toothache when I eat or drink and really need to visit the dentist asap.

Pmsl FA at description of co-codomol!

I can't actually see it, but I tried to see if it would come out ass soon as I did it. Itfeels like the left side of my face is huge!!
I phoned NHS 24, they said to try ibuprofen until I see the dentist in the morning. I'll have to phone mil again...
I remember DH trying whisky when he had toothache, he said it numbs it but doesn't actually get rid of the pain altogether. Thanks for the advice anyway guys

was it a boiled sweet? (sugar based?)

if so get a nice HOT cup of tea or whatever and swish that around... might melt it?

jerry21 · 17/02/2006 22:21

I can't put anythin hot near it as it is too sore. I had to eat my dinner on the other side of my as anything hot seems to aggrivate it even more!
Never thought I'd say it but I can't wait to see this bloody dentist!!!
Thanks anyway
