Yesterday I posted that I had a terrible
headache & felt sick. I ended up going to bed and I've only just got up, I am so tired still that i can barely keep my eyes open. i really want to go back to bed but I can't as dh is at work and dd1 & dd2 are wanting to play.

Has anyone else experienced this at all?

I am a chronic migraine sufferer when I was younger I was actually on permanent medication to stop them from coming daily. This was one of my biggest fears once I became a mother that I would get one and not be able to cope with bub as I get them so severe. I have found that a product called migrastick helps really well. It is a little roll on stick that you rub onto your temple. If you take panadol and rub this in it really does help. I am from Australia so I'm not sure if you have this but I'm sure there would be a similar product in the UK it is lavendar and menthol based and the smell is really calming and the product actually seems to penetrate and really soothe. I'm not sure if this is what you were after hope it helped....

My DP suffers from migraines which affect his vision, and can knock him out for a couple of days - he has not had one this bad for ages however, since discovering that by drinking a can of coke (or other caffeine containing drinks) the migraine is gone within about 30 minutes.

Doesn't work for everyone, but the tip was passed to him from another migraine sufferer so it certainly works for some! Worth a try as it is so innocuous.

I have suffered migraines since a child and I find that the only thing to do is go back to bed. Take some ibuprofen and a paracetamol together - it may help. Sleep is the only way though and I know how difficult it is with 2 kids. Try having a bed on the settee and a warm drink. You really need to look after yourself. Mine were hormone related and now that my hormones are running out(!) I haven't had as many = fingers crossed, they are truly awful.

Hope you feel better soon. When your husband comes in - give him the kids and go to bed.

I've been a headache and migraine sufferer since i was a little girl. I'd take nurofen, but if that didn't work .. i'd suffer. I'd be sick, couldn't stand lights and need to go to bed under the covers .. could go in hours or last for days. (Anadin made me feel worse and some other pills gave me nosebleeds)
Last yr, with lots of stress and 2 dds to look after, my GP prescribed me paramax tablets - paracetamol + metoclopramide, to stop the nausea, and sumatriptan for migraines also.
I haven't taken the sumatriptan yet .. saving for extreme migraines, but the paramax ones have worked

Sumatriptan sumatriptan sumatriptan. Unless you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Get it from your GP. 'tis lovely stuff.

Sumatriptan is sold under brand name Imigran or Imitrex (one is the UK name and one is US, can't remember which is which) or I actually prefer Naramig (which is naratriptan). Both are made and sold by Glaxo Smith Kline. There are some other triptans on the market as well.

I have the same and they go on for over 24hrs. At first I found nurofen did work, but had to take stronger & stronger doses, and now it doesnt work. Unfortunately I found the migraleve etc absolutely useless. Dr should prescribe some migraine tabs mild ones at first. If they dont work then try the triptan ones. I have Naramig (naratriptan). It is the only thing that works for me and it works 99%. Brilliant, though of course don't like having to use drugs every week but ho hum.
Btw, it took yrs for me to convince various Drs that I had 'migraine' as didnt have flashing lights. But in fact headache + nausia (sp) is common migraine symptom, as is extreme tiredness, light sensitivity and it lasting a v long time. Good luck
