chicken pox and anti-histamines?

Dd has chicken pox. Doc has prescribed anti-histamines to help with the itching.

It seems this is another example of spanish/english medical culture differences. normally i just go with the uk way (eg I put my babies to sleep on their backs and requested no epesiotomy, but that's another story). But this actually makes a bit of sense - I suspect calamine lotion alone will not stop dd from scratching herself raw - she's only 3.

what do you think?

Poor little thing, they say the younger they get CP the milder it is. Doesn't sound mild in R's case. Hope she is on the road to recovery soon.

Hope your DT's are starting to feel better too Mars, its terrible when little ones are ill, must be even harder for you with both of them having it. How is DT1, anymore spots?

it means it's blistering happymum which is a good thing. It means it's clearing up. Though it's gonna look ugly for a while then suddenly be gone.

I don't think that rough quite describes my night! It was bloody awful.

The worse thing is that it's only DT2 who has them at the moment so I know that as soon as he is clear she will break out in the pox. His pox are beginning to blister. There is so much red on this boy. His scalp is bothering him the most as well. He never managed to settle for more than an hour at the time last night. I took him in with me so as not to disturb his sister and now I'm covered in bruises.

I'm hoping my 2 will get it, I'd rather they had it now rather then during SATS week, or just before we go away. I don't think a little bit of contact in the playground will be enough contact.

We have a good week, been a bit busy. We have managed to sort the garden, decorate the hall and took the kids out a few times. I'm not ready to go back to work yet though, I need another week off!

Have you had to stay in while R has CP? That bit would drive me mad, I'd have to go out somewhere, anywhere!

MarsOnLife · 18/02/2006 09:55

the staying in is driving me batty as well.

Still, my bf has just text me. Her DS has it as well. So at least we can visit and have her visit us.

How is S now, have his spots all cleared up yet? What about the other rash he had, did you ever find out anything else about that?

happymum....... found the stuff that I prefer to use. It's called Benadryl and it's fantastic.

DT2 seems to have completely blistered now. Just hoping there is no new outbreak of spots. Nothing from DT1... so we sit and we wait!
