Seriously sore back when on period

Ok, not even sure they are related, but lately when I have my period I also get sciatica alongside it. It goes more or less the same day my period ends.

Currently I hvae been on a full week which is very unusual for me as have been light for 1-2 days then nothing.

My back is in agony. I cannot bend down to put my shoes on, dressing is a nightmare and I am so glad I do not have to help the DC get dressed much as I would not be able to manage it.

Have been taking ibuprofen and paracetamol but this korning it is so bad I';ve taken diclofenic but it has not touched the pain.

Any ideas? Can they be related. Does anyone else get this?

Have you been to see your GP?

No Blush but mainly because they always say it is to do with my weight (despite having had sciatica from my skinny teens).

Get yourself to a good osteopath. They'll sort it. I had back pain with my periods really badly after having my first child, and after a course of treatment for my pelvis it went away (80% of it anyway) for good. It could be anything, but a good osteopath (get a recommendation) will know. Not cheap, but you can't carry on like this.

You might have a fibroid, my back was seriously sore when I had periods because my womb tilted back. When it swelled up it trapped a nerve.

Me too.

I have pathetic discs that wibble about and am hypermobile around the whole pelvic region.

I always thought hormones had something to do with it. Bit like in pregnancy when the hormones relax everything (which messed me up utterly). My back is always more wibbly and painful around period time.

Am going to second the osteopath recommendation, a good one.

Would also suggest pushing the doc for investigation if your periods are changing / different?
