Sleep Apnea

Has anyone else got this?

I picked up the machine today, and have had it on the last two hours when watching TV. This feels very strange. I have the mask that covers the mouth and nose. I keep getting itchy in the nose and chin and have to keep taking it off to itch.

I was told the sleep apnea is severe and my oxygen levels went down to 60%. I was not dreaming for years. I am so very much looking forward to knowing what it feels like to wake up refreshed and I so want a load of dreams. I feel quite excited about waking up tomorrow morning. I hope that my heart and blood pressure will go back to normal now. I also hope that the other problems I have are related to the sa and that they will get sorted out, for example the visual problems, fingers crossed.

I have to say it is not nice having this mask and machine on, and the idea of having it for life is not pleasant. I keep thinking of the improvements it will make in my life, and it means I will not loose my driving licence which was a big worry of mine.

Apparently I won't be cured of sleep apnea if I loose weight as carrying excess weight is not the cause in my case, the cause is due to having EDS, so for me this is a life time treatment.

It would be nice to speak to someone else who has been through this.

Hi all.

I have perservered with the "dammed mask" I didn't get an appointment to see the GP, my own is only available for two sessions a week. I will try again tomorrow. The CPAP machine man was to come on Wednesday, I heard nothing, he rang on Wednesday night to say he would try on Thursday, I had a hospital appointment and was rushing back and got a call to say he had car trouble and couldn't make it, he would try Friday before his holiday, heard nothing on Friday. He said if he didn't get to me before his holiday he would pass me on to a colleague.

So I have the same rubbish mask, with cheek flapping like I am flying out of an airplane, dribble, watering eyes from the air in them, waking continually due to mask problems and the rest.

I am more tired than ever now, I was crying yesterday with the tiredness, I was never aware of waking without the cpap machine, I am continually aware that I am awake with the mask annoying me.

I have however the last two nights had my first dreams, which is lovely, I am so happy to dream nonsence from the day time events or general things on my mind. One of my dreams last night was involving mn actually in a small part of an odd dream Grin.

I am not feeling well today. I got up earlier and had visual disturbance, lights like a celydascope(?sp) etc, felt so sick, vomited a little, upset tummy, head ache and exhausted, I dropped off (mask free by accident) watching This Morning and woke up to loose women earlier on. I think it may be some sort of migrane?? I am feeling less sick now so that is good.

Thank you for sharing your experiences and for the advice and support you have given me.
