Every month I experience pain when ovulating. It can last a couple of days.
I feel bloated as well. Can alleviate the discomfort with ibuprofen. Is there anything else I could be doing to help? Thanks.

I had this too, for a long time. Ended up going for scans and turns out thats what it was (scans showed nothing). I was advised to use an ovulation-stopping contraception. I took the pill but the implant atopa ovulation too.

I would imagine painkillera would help along with a hot water bottle but to be honest mine would take me by surprise and be so intense I couldnt lift a leg up off the floor. so painkillers would have took too long to work for me

if it helps the pain is nowhere.near as bad now I have a baby but it could be something that gets progressively worse so I may have to eat my words.

I would go to the GP and get it checked. It is probably nothing, but I have just had a grapefruit sized cyst removed from my ovary which I knew nothing about!

Thanks for your messages. I'll go back on the contraceptive pills I used to take but kept forgetting about! Do cysts cause similar symptoms?

I wouldn't have thought so, but as I am not a doc I couldn't comment, OP. If you want a longer term contraceptive, have you thought about the implant? Then no remembering to take a pill.

It may not actually be ovulation pain. Pain that is cyclical in nature like this should be checked out further by a gynae to see if endometriosis is the underlying cause.

Would suggest you keep a pain/symptom diary; this will help further.

Scans will not detect endometriosis if it is there; the usual way it is diagnosed is via a keyhole surgery op called a laparoscopy.
