I have suffered with migraine four years ad years walkthrough in the last 10 years or so, since I discovered an osteopath who is also a sufferer and he has tweaked my neck etc, they are very few and far between. However, I am back with said osteo for back problems and he has been working on my neck a little and the migraines have returned. I can take some migraleve and usually, if I sit quietly for 15 minus, quash the migraine. I have never noticed a link with choloate however this evening, I had a sneaky few chunks of cadbury's fruit and nut and literally just 3 minutes later, my vision stated going fuzzy and I now have circles whirling around. I am typing this from keyboard memory mainly so any spelling or grammar mistakes please frog vie me.

Could the chocolate have got into my ssytme that quickly to start a ingrain or is it just a horrid coincidence do you think?
Please for give me if I don't check your replies immediately as I need obviously to get off the commuter and rest my eyes eye. TIA

Chocolate is a known cause of migraines....sorry, it does it for me too!

Hi, For some people a migraine can start with a drop in blood sugar, and they then eat some chocolate and have a migraine but it is actually a symptom not a cause IYSWIM.

I have migraines but mine are hormonal and stress related.
I think 3 minutes if far too short a time for the chocolate to have an effect.

Try alternate hot/cold compresses at the back of your neck as that often helps.

thank you. I'm impressed you could make out some of what i was trying to say Smile.

I managed to get away without any migraleve and just slept it off but I still felt weird most of today. MIL tells me today that migraine is also part and parcel of the menopause for some people (I am peri menopausal) so that thrills me no end!
I'm glad it's not definitely that it was the chocolate that coursed it. Life without chocolate is not a life I would wish to lead Smile

it is not fun mckenzie...but if I am really good, I can occasionally fall of the waggon, with only a Headache, as opposed to full blown migraine as a result.....and sometimes it is worth it Grin

waggon wagon, it has been a long week!!!

As Elk said the chocolate can be a symptom as part of the phase leading up to a migraine. I get them when a combination of hormones, stress, being run-down etc just catches up with me. I have a slightly manic phase before the aura which I'm only just learning to recognise (I'm 38 and migraine started during puberty for me!). Rest, pain killers and a sympathetic DP help me. It's tough though if I've got my 2 DDs with me though - I really feel for you!
