Could new mattresses be giving me headache?

I have had a low level headach for about a wekk. And an outofaction migraine yesterday - luckily I have amazing tablets for migraines and was only AWOL for about 5 hours.

We have had 2 new mattresses since last Thursday (well 1 last Thursday and the other on Wednesday due to the uttertwaddlish levels of communication between ChaoticBigGirl and DH Hmm ) and the house stinks of chemicals.

Could whatever is in them be causing my heads?

If so, what should I gave done differently? I think there's another purchase on the horizon. [saf]

I've never heard of an outofaction migraine, what's that? Your Msg was a bit confusing. How come you have had 2 mattresses? What are the chemicals causing the stink?

sleeplikethedead.com/memory-foam-smell.html

Are they memory foam mattresses?

(digressing a bit.. you've excluded the possibility of Carbon Monoxide from water heaters/boilers/ etc?)

Um. It's a migraine that put me out of action.

2 mattresses for 2 beds?

I have no idea about the chemicals but I think I'm pretty safe to assume the stink is from the new mattresses.

Thanks for that motn -I'll check out CM possbilty.

I'd say yes. Our new mattress stank really chemically for days. Luckily we didn't have to sleep on so it could outgas in a room by itself.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/04/2012 14:04

Oh, and the mattresses came with a warnign saying they would stink when unwrapped, so tis not unusual or wrong.

The Chaotics don't seem botheredthankfully, but I just don't think the semlls dissipated in the last week and I am finding it really unpleasant, besides the headaches.

I'd say yes as well. Smells, more than anything else, set off my migraines. I had a horrendous one after a two hour journey in a brand new car.

dohhhhhhhhh.
I've just googled 'outofaction' migraine as my H suffers terribly and I'm looking for any information I can find- just realised it meant 'out of action' !!! Well he defo suffers with the outofaction type. I like that term.

Hi Chaos, sorry you're having any kind of migraine - I'm a fellow-sufferer and can only suggest opening windows as often as possible until smell wears off matresses, and writing to manufacturers for advice. Best wishes.
