Teething - 16wk old dd in distress - any advice?

Anyone gone through teething with one this young?

DD seems in pain - trying to suck like mad on anything, crying a lot of the time, cant sleep.

The so-called teething rings we've got dont fit in her mouth, and she is not on solids yet so all the suggestions in the book eg a cold carrot are not good.

Would you use bonjela or anbesol? or paracetamol?

Any advice greatly appreciated from first-time mum worried about just about everything at the mo!

I used bonjela and paracetamol
Also teething powder that you can buy in boots

Tommee Tippee gummy teether worked well for us

We used Dentinox gel which is similar to Bonjela with the occasional dose of Calpol. Both ours had teeth by 5 months but it wasn't the initial ones which caused problems. Are you sure it is just teething. They often do go through a more unsettled phase around this age as they adjust to becoming more alert and curious while being frustrated at their relative lack of mobility.

thanks for the tip blondeinlondon will look out for the tommy tippee one if I can get out to mothercare tmrw.

LIZS, yes i know what you mean - its defo a combo of things - she's had a cold, and is getting frustrated too. But I can feel teeth coming through and she wants to bite on my finger all the time.

Ibuprofen at night, if you are totally confident she's not degydrated. DS started teething at 17 weeks and it was the only thing that relived the pain.

sorry, dehydrated!

bumbleweed · 12/02/2006 16:58
