For a couple of months I have had a bruise on my right breast, I thought it was just a superficial skin bruise but a month ago I began to get pain in my right arm pit and breast when the Dr examined me she wasn't too concerned about the bruise but felt a lump in my right breast and that was much more painful when she examined it not massively so but more tender yes, I have to go back in 2 weeks after my period to see if it will still be there then maybe go for a test at the hospital.
Has anyone had this before, I cried on the way home I know I have to cross the bridge when I come to it but Im in the middle of finishing a college course, Ive just been accepted into uni and Im now really worried, any advice welcomed

A while ago my dog nipped my boob (don't ask). I had a huge and spectacular bruise, followed, a bit later, by a big tender lump in my breast where the bruise had been. I spoke to a friend who is a GP, who told me that breast lumps often arise after knocks and that it should go away in a couple of weeks, which it did. So it may be just something like this. You've done the right thing going to the doctor though. I hope all goes well for you.

Hi itwillallbenothing, I have no advice really but just wanted to say hang in there - it's the waiting around that is so worrying isn't it? You are very young, it probably will be nothing. I've been to the doc before with a painful breast lump and it was just period-related. Afaik it's the painless lumps that are more worrying.

Breast lumps which are cancer are not normally painful. So try not to stress too much. You can go back to the gp and ask for a referral to the breast clinic sooner rather than waiting...the breast clinics would always rather see you than not, and most referrals turn out to be nothing to worry about. Why don't you pop along to the tamoxifen thread, where you will find lots of wonderful women who understand how you feel and can support you and do some hand holding.

Thanks so much I really appreciate this, Im questioning myself now, maybe it didn't hurt maybe I was just being squeamish about it maybe Im just procrastinating to the extreme (I have lots of assignments to complete by tomorrow) I don't know I'm so confused, but thanks for all your reassurances.

Look for the Tamoxifen threads on here. They were enormously helpful when I had a slug on a USS.
Fingers crossed that yours goes away too.
