Dh fainting/bladder issues/stomach pain

Bit worried about my dh, who is never ill. At work over Christmas period he passed out while trying to pee, came home looking shit and refused to see doctor so I got him to up fluids and rest. He seemed fine next day but it happened again at Easter, this time with added pain to the right of his belly button. Whilst he didn't pass out exactly this time, I found him on the bathroom floor looking woozy/pale and unable to unrinate again.

Last week doc tested bloods for diabetes and it's not that. Today GP says it's probably irritable bowel syndrome or something he's eaten over a period of time. I just think thats a lazy diagnosis. I would have thought some sort of prostate examination would be in order for signs like this in a man.

Does anyone else think this is an ok diagnosis ? He has private health, do you think a scan may be more comprehensive or should I just butt out? Thanks

I wouldn't leave it at that. They are not supposed to diagnose IBS without ruling everythin else out first. He needs to go back and see someone else. Inability to urinate can be protate related, he could also have kidney stones/bladder stones.

Thanks LAdySybil that's more or less how I was thinking. Irritable bowel is a whole syndrome of symptoms I believe, few of which he has, and he has no bowel issues at all, only urine. I'm going to urge him to go back.

Bloating, spasms, diarrhoea/constipation, pain, nausea are usually associated with IBS. Inability to pass urine isn't part of IBS, it's likely to be a blockage. With renal colic (kidney stones) the pain moves as the stone/s make their way out. It can be very painful (hence the woozy/pale). Other then a prostate problem, there's not a lot that it can be. He needs his urine tested and an ultrasound. Hope this helps and he's feelin better soon.

Feeling rather. Blush

I would say get a 2nd opinion as that doesn't sound right. Go private if you have to. It doesn't sound like IBS at all.

Possible kidney stone if he's passing out - they're incredibly painful.

Thankyou lovely people Smile It must be bad because he just told me tonight he is going back to GP in the morning and demanding asking for an ultrasound. He is never ill, too busy looking after me and my dreadful health so i know it must be worrying him.

Shall update xx

Wishing him (and you) all the best.

Sounds a lot like renal calculous. Will have move from kidney to bladder at xmas then caught in urethra just above bladder at easter. This would explain pain in abdo. Similar pain to labour..... so men really cant manage (i'm a man and I know, I've had two stones... got one moving at the mo!!!)
Get to GP demand ultrasound/renal referral.
Good luck
