hi,
I'm 28 and constantly tired,
i don't understand why, I drink from two to four red bulls a day just to keep me going,
my three year old sleeps with us still but I'm only disturbed by her if she needs a drink,
I'm feel im never comfortable and toss, I feel my body is constantly tense and my muscles ache in my back and neck,
sometimes I feel as though I've not slept at all,
i don't work yet I look after my two kids and I'm a housewife untill my dd goes to school,,
so I'm not all that busy really,,
if I for example batter in with housework I feel I suffer for it the following day,
this shouldn't be happening yet, I'm only 28 and feel like I'm alot older due to the lack of energy?

i would try putting your dd in her own bed in her own room so that you can get a good night's sleep. You may think you are but subconsciously you will be aware that she is there and not sleep properly.

secondly, look at your diet - are you getting enough iron and other vitamins etc? eat energy food such as broccoli, sprouts, spinich, eggs, cereals, grapes, peaches, oranges, bananas, nuts, seeds, beans, lentils, honey as these are all energy foods.

You say you are not that busy, physically you may not but mentally it is hard work looking after children (i have only one and it can be mentally draining at times - although he does have SEN). i find i am worse when i am not busy. I usually work four days a week - Monday to Thursday but it's on a Sunday I am most tired because I haven't done as much as I would do when at work. Try getting some fresh air - go for a walk either in the morning or the afternoon each day, its amazing how much energy a quick ten minute walk gives you.

try and cut down on the amount of redbulls you drink, firstly because it wont help you sleep at night and secondly a side effect is that it can actually make you drowsy! unbelievable i know! also they are just like caffeine and give you a short burst of energy and then you hit a low

How old is your bed & mattress?

bamboobutton · 23/04/2012 15:53

i would go to the gp and ask for blood tests to find out what's wrong.

i also suffer from exhaustion. i used to be able to walk for miles but now a short walk(a mile or so) will wipe me out for the whole day.
somedays just walking upstairs leaves me feeling like i have just run up ben nevis! i am actually on my hands and knees gasping.

i'm now having it properly investigated having been fobbed off for years with iron tablets

Yes! I have a one year old and three year old but they both sleep through the night ? the little one wakes up earlier than I would like but hey ho. I'm a bit older than you (36) but still young enough that it doesn't feel normal. I eat a relatively good (could be better diet) so at the moment I've resorted to vitamin tablets just to see if they make a difference. I'm only a few days in so not noticed anything yet.

It could be worth getting the doctor to refer you for a blood test to check iron levels and thyroid function etc if nothing else works, you never know!

thestringcheesemassacre · 23/04/2012 15:57

Do you get enough exercise? I find, rather bizarrely, the more I exercise, the less tired I am and the more energy I have. Proper heart pumping exercise.

My suggestion might seem a bit of a long shot but could you have asthma? I was feeling like you for years and kept being fobbed off by doctors saying that I had a busy life and it was normal or to have a hot drink before going to bed etc etc. I was convinced there was something.

It is only when my son was diagnosed with asthma and I read about it that I started wondering if I had asthma. It wasn't obvious because I am lacking the "normal" symptoms like wheezing. My doctor put me on medication for it after a while on it my sleep radically improved. My asthma wasn't very well controlled and I could really feel it in my sleep pattern. It has now been confirmed by a consultant who has changed my medication and it is amazing the difference it makes. I sleep well and I have a lot more energy but that is because when your oxygen levels drop you are exhausted.

As suggested below I would steer clear of the redbull though. Poisonous stuff. I hope you find the cause and feel better soon. It is awful feeling the way you are

hi, thanks for all your replies,Smile
I'll try my best to answer them all Smile
my diet is not great but not awful,
I don't have any help with the dc's so I don't have any time really for myself, but really I'm often to tired even when my DH gets home from work to then go the gym as he doesn't get home till late on,
and by then he's to tired too so we kind of just cuddle up on the couch after kids go to bed till our bedtime.
my dd goes to her own bed but sneaks in during the night, and to stop her wakening her sibling up as he has school,,I let her
it's my own fault really Sad
it's so difficult it feels easier to just plonk her in and go bk to sleep,
I hope I'm answering all posts sorry Smile
it's wired sometimes I wake up and it feels like I've stopped breathing, wired I know but It does happen often,,
my mattress is only a year old,
theres no asthma in the family that I know of, and my iron levels were checked as well as a full blood count and everything came bk normal..
I've started taking extra vitamins so I'll need to see how and if they help in the next few days..
I'm out every day too, and I'm not a couch potato or lazy, I feel I have to really push myself tho?
I think I'll tackle my diet n speak to the well woman clinic and see what happens there

Hi its just a thought but you could be suffering from an underactive thyroid. Like you i was exhausted, couldnt lose wieght even though i was on a serious diet. Also had a hangvoer feeling all the time even though i hardly drink!! Anyway had bloods checked and have started on meds for an underactive thyroid. I think its wise to go speak to your GP and ask to be screened for iron levels etc....good luck...
