Can fibroids give you backache, upper thigh ache and the inability to put your socks on

without sitting down first?

I feel like an old lady. If I sit down for too long I get a terrible pain in my lower back that radiates to the top of my thighs. I can hardly bend over as well. Is this due to my four giant fibroids, do you think?

Goodness, four giant fibroids? Shock

I had one orange sized fibroid a few years back and that was bad enough. It used to give me terrible shooting stomach pains but not in my back or thighs.

Are you having them removed anytime soon?

This year. A hysterectomy Sad. Im hoping it is caused by the fibroids and nothing else. They are annoying I can feel three of them the fourth is around the back somewhere.

Yes my melon fibroid gave me pain like that - absolutely hideous, I had a hysterectomy when I was 38.

Are you worried about your operation or sad about the idea of it? If its any comfort at all,for me having a hysterectomy made an enormous difference to me - no more pain, and no more awful heavy painful periods and anaemia. I'd got so used to feeling awful, I didn't realise how bad it had been until it stopped, and I could do normal stuff again.

Im kind of sad but, my sister is pregnant so, that takes the edge of the sadness.

Im worried about being laid up as I live on my own.

Honestly, I dont know if Im getting fat or what, I literally have to put my foot on the coffee table to put my shoes on!! Im taking strong painkillers just to get me through the night shifts.

I'm a physio, and yes, pain in that pattern and difficulty with socks can be caused by gynae problems.

The uterus is supplied with a nerve in the lower back - sometimes we find women referred with sciatica, but it's fandango trouble that's at the root of it.

Having said that - you can have a back problem and fibroids at the same time, and your pain sounds significantly bad...so, go and see your GP. You don't need a slipped disc to add to your troubles.
