Any advice would be great thank you.

I took the pill Yasmin before having children and it was great. That was 5 years ago. Since I haven't used any hormonal contraceptives.

So, wanted to go back on Yasmin and started taking it 3 months ago.

Month 1 I was very poorly with flu, really really unwell, hospital etc so a bit of a right off.

Month 2 and 3 I took the pill back to back and have had daily headaches. Some evenings it has been quite bad, generally lasting most of the day.

Called GP last night said to stop staight away, but I had just taken it so not much I could do. Anyway, this morning and today headache has pretty much gone, still feel a bit 'heady' but so so so so much better.

So do I carry on for a few days and see?
Or stop?
Or stop for a while and see what happens?

My worry is if I stop now and the headaches go, great! But I will only know if I carry on.....

But GP has scared me with the mention of strokes....

Aany advice would be great.

I would keep off it personally and go back to your GP to discuss other options. I think if the headaches stopped as soon as you stopped the pill it's quite likely it's that causing the problem. Have you thought about trying the progesterone only pill instead?

Yes, just a bit concerned about having to take it at the same time each day, weightgain and less control over my periods...I would like not to have one etc...

I took it for a couple of years. No weight gain, I had very light periods like just needed a pant liner monthly . If you take the more modern ones you have a 12 hour window. It suited me quite well, I can't take combined pill because I get migraines there's a link between stroke and migraine on the combined pill But there's lots of options for contraception, you don't have to live with bad side effects. I really would go and talk your options through with your GP.

a 12 hour window? Really? I thought it was an hour?

A while back it was the case but they have improved in more recent years. The one I took was 12 hours, I think it was Cilest? it's been a couple of years since I took it! Most have a 4 hour window AFAIK.
