Scholl cracker heel cream, every day for at least two weeks, now and again wont do it!

DaftMaul · 17/04/2012 11:52

Flexitol Heal Balm is excellent. Also needs to be used daily - am and pm but once the cracks have gone, I have got away with reducing it.

RichTeaAreCrap · 17/04/2012 16:15

Another vote for Flexitol, it really works.

wolvesarejustoldendaydogs · 17/04/2012 16:16

Lansinoh! (if you have any leftover knocking about...)

MrsPresley · 17/04/2012 16:21

I've tried Flexitol and have to agree with the others...really works!

Iwantcandy · 17/04/2012 16:41

Ooh I have lansinoh thanks. Went to boots to buy some cream but there was a gorgeous man near the foot care stuff so I left without getting any. Hope lansinoh wont make fluff from my sock stick in the crack though. Never had this problem before. I blame poor foot care due to exhausting baby Wink

You can pull the edges together, put a hydro colloid band aid on, and leave it for several days. Hydro colloid is one word, cannot type it that way though.

I soak my feet in Epsom salts, and while feet are still soft, shave with a foot shaver. You just take a little off whereas if your feet are dry, you can get too much skin off.

People say Boots has a foot grater thing for about six pounds. I am in the states and tried every which way to get that, gave up and bought a $40 diamond sander thing. Which makes feet very smooth. I used to have cracks 1/8" deep and bleeding so start with the hydro colloid band aids just so it feels better immediately.

Hansiemom is correct, go for a hydrocolloid dressing if you already have a fissure. Compeed cracked heels plasters / dressing over the crack will sort it out. A tip though, don't stretch or touch the sticky side when putting it against your skin and seal it by cupping your hand over it to seal it with warmth. Once the crack has gone I would recommend either seeing a podiatrist or creaming your heels with a cream containing Urea twice a day (I'm a podiatrist BTW!).

startail · 18/04/2012 09:00

Flexitol or similar urea containing cream 2x a day. The body shop body butter or other really thick moisturiser especially if you bath or shower in an evening and can sit and let it soak in.

Prevention is defiantly worth it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/04/2012 20:37

Doublebase gel, smooth it onto the skin twice a day.

Do not rub it in or massage it in.

Sit and soak your feet in hotwater for an hour while watching TV (or MNing) in thw evening, then foot file while still soaking your feet. Dry your feet Flexitol rubbed in just before bed and put on socks. Repeat every few days for two weeks.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 18/04/2012 20:43

I have huge problems with this so here is my foot care regime (all for free!)

  • soak feet in warm water or bath
  • apply lashings of flexitol (or your lansinoh)
  • wrap feet in cling film
  • put on socks

It feels a bit sticky and slippery in there - not completely pleasant, and be careful on the stairs - but works a treat.

Iwantcandy · 18/04/2012 21:37

Thank you. Going to be braver in boots tomorrow!
I must be ignorant but I just discovered what lanolin is. And I put that on my boobs and let my pfb suck them! Yuck Hmm

I second the cling film wrapped round the foot. It is fabulous!

anonymosity · 19/04/2012 00:10

I agree with the cream. Soak the foot, put on the cream, put on a sock, repeat.
