Frozen Shoulder - how do I deal with the pain till I see a Dr?

I am in agony. I managed three natural births, but I am struggling badly with this. I had to ask dh to help me get dressed this morning, which was a disaster - he couldn't fasten my bra, which would have been funny if he hadn't tugged my shoulder and hurt me. Grin

I can't get an appointment with the doctor till Tuesday, and the cocodamol I was prescribed over the phone to do me till then made me throw up so badly it was hurting my shoulder worse.

So I'm taking paracetomol and naxopren (which was prescribed with the cocodamol). I've tried frozen peas, which makes it feel better, but it seems ti seize up again straight away, and heat, which seemed to make it worse, and me light headed.

Any hints or tips - please?

Met up with my db yesterday and it seems we have matching painful shoulders; my mum suffers too so I wonder how much of it is genetic predisposition to poor posture rather than specific injury.

I've always found ultrasound treatment quite helpful - I had it on my knee too some years ago. I think the idea is that it helps straighten out the tissues - similar to the breaking down thing that physios sometimes do by hand. I think I saw you post aboutt on that other thread gingeroots? The poster with the friend with the dodgy knee?

ozmum - umm ,time and very gentle exercise .
Which may beg the question as to why I'm spending money seeing people to treat it - but honestly I think it's to cheer me up .
I get less than no sympathy from those around me ( apart from DS when he's home ) .
DP poorly disguises his irritation and suddenly develops his own aches and pains .
And I have to hide it from my mum ...not easy when I'm contorted into strange position ( and using both hands ) to sort out the long term dressings on the back of her calf ,bottom of her heel ,while she's fairly immobile in a chair .

saggars - will let you know if it becomes clear !

Funny what you say - my mum has shocking head forward ,round shouldered ( but is in 90s ) so may be genetic/copied ?

But .... lots of lap top work on lap is bad as well .
And I'm sure my varifocals don't help ,have to angle head a certain way .
Are you a varifocal laptop user ?

Have been daily PC/laptop user for 30+ years gingeroots. And yes currently sitting here with it on my lap.

Sympathy on the dh front - what is it with the competitive aches and pains business?

Thanks for the link to that thread ginger. Interesting what Cote says about her leg - my knee surgeon from some years back said I have a discrepancy. I know that it impacts on my lower back, which I expect in turn reflects in my shoulder.

for anyone reading this for help I am not an expert just a recovering sufferer. My advice for a fast recovery is:
drink water, drink water, drink water (I'm on 2 litres a day)... ;
if you use a computer check your working position;
and go to the physio for stretching exercises.

I am recovering - the problem came on in late August and I am now back to near full recovery in early March (usual minimum FS cycle is 9 months). I can definitely see a correlation between drinking water and my rate of recovery so give it a try. My sympathies are with you.
