I've just turned 44 and haven't had a period for around 5-6 months. My mum had hers early/mid 50's and I pretty much figured would be the same.
I had no warning, 26ish day cycle for years but since last oct/nov nothing.
I feel fine and don't seem to have other symptoms just no period.

Feel bit freaked (though know it is normal) but like the passing of an era.

Is this on early side and should I go to G.P even though not having any neg symptoms yet?

Don't understand why you want to go to the docs if you hav no negative symptoms.

Thanks.
Don't want to but just wondered if should.
Just bit shocked came so easily. One day periods the next nil, though should be thankful.
My mother had hard time.

Hop over to the MENOPAUSE forum here- more info .

Also have a look at www.menopausematters.co.uk

Meno under the age of 45 is classed as early meno. You need to see your GP or a gynae for hormone tests and possible HRT. This is not an "optional" /lifestyle choice- as it is for women of normal meno age ( 51-52) it's ESSENTIAL for your bones and heart health, and needs to be taken up to the age of 50-52. You are simply putting back what ought to be there, so the usual risks don't apply.

Have you done a pg test?

There are many 'menopause babies' - including my fiend's, born when she was 48 ! Grin
