Hypothyroidism or Low Iron...going mad!

Hi There, Hoping somebody can share / shed light on this. I have a gp appt in 2 wks, but need to go armed with info.
Bit of background, had DC4 6months ago after crash Cs under GA. Recovered OK, but felt massive hormone drop after Christmas and lost what seemed like 50% of my hair, way way more that post other pregnancies.
Since then the palms of my hands and the backs are severely cracked and look like paper..no amount of Diprobase makes any difference to them, they looks like fault lines and are flaking.

I have had countless kidney infections which were antibiotic resistant and am taking yet another antibiotic to combat it, never had kidney infections before.
Feel mega weak and exhausted most of the time. Am not overweight and I am usually very energetic so this is such a downer, but not sure whether this is from looking after 4dc for long hours.
Feel really emotional and woolly, not me at all, i'm normally super focused and goal driven,,,it kind of scares me this feeling...i'm to turn 40 this year and i'm not sure if this symptom is connected with that.
If you've made it this far, congratulations, I feel like such a hypochondriac...normally never get even a cold, empty file at the gps, but this is really getting me down..anybody with similar experiences, much appreciated.

I had a similar experience after having dd2, it felt like I was in a heavy fog. No energy, quite emotional and so tired. I thought was PND but turned out it was hypothyroid. Is there any chance you could get an earlier appointment, or even discuss on phone with GP and book blood test before appointment. They will need to do blood test to determine if low thyroid, anaemia etc, so if you wait it could be 3 weeks before you know. Try ringing surgery and ask dr to ring you back. 3 weeks is a long time to wait if you are low on thyroxine. You could have a blood test, then discuss the results at the appointment. My dr rang as soon as they had the results, left prescription at counter and told me to start asap, which was just as well as I hadn't thought to ring back before our holiday.

Low thyroid is fine to manage, you will be given artificial thyroxine and need 6 month or annual blood tests. As it came on after pregnancy it might just be temporary. You will be exempt from paying for prescriptions all the time you are on thyroxine. If you are brave enough to have another child you will need to be monitored during the pregnancy and esp in first trimester. Advice was to increase dose as soon as find out. Pregnancy can increase the demand, and low thyroid can affect the baby's IQ. I took extra thyroxine and was monitored and ds is easily as clever as the other two at his age.

Did you lose a lot of blood or have a headache after the birth? If so, check out pituitary problems also.
