FFS.....Right for over a year, my left knee has been hurting on and off.it's kind of behind the knee cap and it's a stabbing pain. It has made me limp especially when I walk down hill. It only hurts when I walk although it does wear off. I can't really wear heels now as they really put a strain on my knee. I can also feel it if I twist my knee and sometimes my knee feels a bit weak. I've been googling and it seems to suggest arthritis, ffs. I'm 43.

A couple of weeks ago, my left ankle started hurting for no reason. It felt like a sprain, I'm not sure when it started but got quite bad in the night, waking me up, not agonizing but really uncomfortable. When I got up I couldn't put any weight on it and I was hobbling around for about 5 minutes. It ached through the day and I wore a support. It was fairly bad again in the morning but eased off over the next day or two. Yesterday morning, in the early hours I noticed that my right ankle started aching, same kind of pain. Again when I got up I had to hobble about a bit but was relatively ok for the rest of the day and it's better now.

I didn't think much about the left ankle but since having the same pain in the right ankle, I started googling again but seems to suggest another type of arthritis. I'm being a bit paranoid I think as my 40 year old db has arthritis and some days he cat even get up the stairs.

I've just made an appointment with gp. I shouldn't have ignored the knee, should I?

Hi there. I had a dodgy knee from when I was a teenager... developed what the doctor prognosed as sprains in both ankles mid twenties (even though I'd never actually done anything to sprain them). Year or so later finally received my diagnoses of arthritis after virtually all walking became unbearable. Don't worry about having ignored the knee but make sure you get the proper diagnoses as soon as possible. My GP discounted arthritis completely and it was the physio who pushed him to refer me.

Don't worry about not being able to walk upstairs, with proper treatment and your own care arthritis needn't be like that always. I'm 34 and have never returned to being as bad as when it peaked. (and am now 22 weeks pregnant with DC1). Leave google well alone and visit the 'arthritis care' website if that is what it turns out to be. It may not be arthritis.

If you do get a diagnosis of arthritis feel free to contact me....
